Click the Start tab. In the right pane, toggle the Show most used apps switch to Off.
Option 2: Clear recently opened programs in Windows 7
Right-click the Start button in Windows 7 and select Properties.
On the Start Menu tab, uncheck the box labeled Store and display recently opened programs in the Start menu. Click Apply.
To also hide recently opened documents and files from the Start Menu and taskbar, uncheck the Store and display recently opened items in the Start menu and the taskbar option as well.
