iPhone users Note: You may have recently sent an iMessage and saw a short prompt in the chat that your contacts have been silently notified and have the option to notify them anyway. If you do the same with focus mode, your phone may also tell your contacts. Don't like this? Then turn it off.
When Apple launched iOS 15, it converted and expanded "Do Not Disturb Mode" to "Focus Mode", which provides more options for others not to bother you. One of these features is to share your focus status, which is enabled by default. To change this setting, go to the Settings app, click Focus Mode, and then click Focus Status. Turn off the toggle next to Share Focus status to stop showing you muted notifications to others. Below this universal off switch, you can turn on or off the focus state reminder for a specific focus mode – if you want people to know that your notifications are off at some point.
Turn on the focus state reminder won't share too much information - it just makes certain apps show you that you don't want to be bothered. It never tells them which focus mode you are using, so if you really like using the bathroom in a quiet environment, it won't leak "John has muted notifications for toilet time". Thankfully, this is so embarrassing.

Even so, the focus status reminder will give your contact a chance to notify you anyway, which can annoy and distract you by interrupting anything you are doing. If you turn it off, they won't get this opportunity.
This is a very simple iOS feature, but there are some tips to know. First, Driving Focus Mode provides the opportunity to create an automatic reply message, allowing your contacts to know what you are doing (you can also use this feature to send automatic messages for non-driving reasons). In the main Focus Mode setting screen, click Driving and then click Auto Reply. This submenu will allow you to choose whether to send messages to no one, recent contacts, favorites, or all contacts.
