Hello Kitty Island Adventure: Befriending Tophat – A Comprehensive Guide

Hello Kitty Island Adventure features many characters you can interact with. Some, like Tophat, appear early but aren't immediately befriended. This guide details how to unlock and befriend Tophat, including the necessary quests. Unlocking Tophat also unlocks Big Challenges, providing two new gift recipients.

Tophat's Location and Unlock Requirements

Unlocking Tophat is a late-game objective. To unlock him (and Big Challenges), complete "A Challenging Rescue." This quest requires completing several other quests:

• Power Up The Gate
• Re-Haunt the Spooky Swamp
• Comic Relief
• Bring Back The Swing
• Enraging Ruins
• Open the Nature Preserve
• Reef Revival
• Revive the Oasis
• Fire Up The Volcano

After completing these, find Tophat at Icy Peak's entrance (top right of Gemstone Mountain). Note that Hello Kitty, My Melody, Keroppi, Badtz-maru, and Chococat's involvement means you must finish their tasks first.

Following "A Challenging Rescue," Tophat resides at the Seaside Resort beach. Use the map icon to locate him if he's not in his usual spot.

Completing "A Challenging Rescue"

"A Challenging Rescue" begins with Kiki and Lala providing backstory. After speaking with them and other characters, enter Icy Peak and climb, timing your ascent with the wind (indicated by a green icon under the map). Falling from the wind depletes stamina.

Climb to platforms, interact with characters, and continue to the summit. Ignore inner mountain paths; stick to the outside. Use the fast-travel mailbox at the top. After speaking with Tophat, attempt to free Big Challenges (unsuccessfully). Kiki and Lala's intervention completes the quest, placing Tophat and Big Challenges at the Seaside Resort beach. Kiki and Lala remain unavailable after this quest.

Gifts for Tophat

Tophat prefers gifts with "Digital," "Stars," or "Fancy" tags (represented by a grid, star, and monocle). One-heart gifts have at least one tag; two and three-heart gifts are listed below:

Giving gifts earns Glitches, used for holograms, crystal statues, and gifts. Prioritize "Fancy"

gifts. Candied Banana Coffee is a good early option. Other options include area-specific gift boxes, Spinip Alfredo Pizza, and Red Bow Apple Pie. The "Computer" (two-heart gift) is craftable at friendship level 13 with Chococat. "Glitchy Books" (using Blank Books and a Glitch) are craftable after friendship level two with Tophat.
