Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's expansive landscapes demand efficient travel. While traversing its vast forests on foot is possible, it's incredibly time-consuming. This guide details how to acquire and upgrade your equine companion.
Early Game Mounts: A Temporary Solution
Initially, you'll be separated from your trusty steed, Pebbles. Don't despair! Temporary mounts can be found near stables in towns and even in fields, such as the swamp area near your first inn. However, be warned: taking these horses constitutes theft. In less populated areas, you can often mount and ride away unnoticed. Remember though, you can't summon these stolen horses later.
Reclaiming Pebbles: Your Loyal Companion
To reunite with Pebbles, head to the stables behind the castle in Semine. You'll find her in the field. Speaking to Groom Ballatay and requesting her return might lead to a disagreement, but choosing the "be reasonable" option will secure her release. After a short in-game period, Pebbles will be yours again. You can summon her using the whistle command (Triangle on PlayStation, Y on Xbox, or X on PC). This action also unlocks the "An Old Friend" achievement/trophy.
Acquiring Superior Steeds
While Pebbles is a loyal companion, better horses await. Visit stables in towns and villages. Speak to the groom to inquire about purchasing a horse. You'll need to select a horse by name from those available and remember its name when placing your order. Be prepared to spend a significant amount of Groschen (thousands!), though the groom will often offer a trade-in value for your current mount.
