This final chapter of The Stone of Madness campaign, following "The Corrupt Hand of the Church," requires you to thwart the Inquisitor's scheme. You've already healed the Abbot, but time is short.

Locating the Book of Mechanism

Your first task is retrieving the Book of Mechanism. Begin at the Laundry building where the nuns reside. A cutscene will trigger upon arrival. Use Alfredo, clad in priest robes, to scale the ladder next to the building and enter the garden through the main gate. The building key is in the southern cell if needed. If you encounter an obstacle after climbing, follow the footprints near the stairs leading to the garden with Alfredo.

Activate the switch near the newly installed iron bars in the garden to remove them. Have Leonora throw a rope to the ledge near the shield above, then have Eduardo climb it, using Alfredo's Sermon skill to distract guards. Eduardo then uses a crowbar on the shield to reveal the Book. Take Alfredo (in priest robes) to the Library's trapdoor, climb to the second floor, and place the book on the statue.

While Mother Superior is outside, use Alfredo's Investigate skill to trace footprints at the library entrance. This leads to a hidden hole. Amelia can pass through, or Leonora can throw a rope to the higher ledge. Press the button to temporarily disable a bar near the statue, allowing Alfredo to place the book, opening a passage to the Scriptorium.

Accessing the Inquisitor's Office

In the Scriptorium, create a bridge over the water using a plank. Agnes's Goetia skill efficiently eliminates the guard. Unlock the plank area (lockpick or crowbar) and cross. Eliminate the patrolling soldier. Use Alfredo's Investigate skill to find tracks near the brazier, leading to a button on the upper wall. Have Eduardo position a crate, climb, and press the button to remove the gate.

Ascend to the Inquisitor's Office. Hide a team member in the wardrobe. Use Agnes's Light and Darkness skill to burn the figurine near the wind-blown window (or use her Possession skill on the gargoyle if the door is already open). Extinguish the lights and use Agnes's Goetia skill to subdue the guard. Hide in the wardrobe. After the cutscene, collect the Crypt Key before proceeding.

Solving the Crypt Puzzle

The Crypt is below the Cloister (south stairs). Eliminate the guard. Interact with the illustrations and press buttons to arrange them correctly. The order changes with each save.

• Cloister Caverns -> Wine Cellar -> Nuns Garden
• Cloister Garden -> Laundry -> Nuns Garden

The Cloister Caverns route is recommended. Eliminate the soldier and inmate in the Wine Cellar's northern experiment room for a shortcut. Press the button near the body in the Caverns to open a passage. Use Eduardo to place a plank near the cellar door. Transport the body to the experiment room, then the Ancient Oven (near Panecillo), and finally to the lowest Wine Cellar level. Use Leonora and Agnes's Goetia skill to incapacitate enemies. Climb the stairs to Sister Elvira, potentially distracting the last soldier with Agnes's Flies skill.

Completing this delivers the body and concludes the campaign.
