Honkai: Star Rail players know the relic grind is a significant aspect of the game. Character leveling and trace upgrades are finite, but relic optimization is an ongoing process. Version 3.0 introduced Wishful Resin and Variable Dice to ease this grind.

Wishful Resin: Refining Relic Substats

Prior to Version 3.0, Self-Modeling Resin allowed for main stat selection on Body, Feet, Planar Sphere, and Link Rope relics. Wishful Resin expands on this, offering substat control. One Resin allows choosing one substat; four Resins allow choosing two.

Access the synthesis screen from the main menu, navigate to the rightmost tab, select your desired relic set and piece, and choose "Customized Synthesis." Note: Head and Hands pieces are ineligible for Resin use. The synthesized relic retains your chosen main and substats.

Obtain Wishful Resin through gameplay, the battle pass, or synthesis using 800 Relic Fragments or one Self-Modeling Resin.

Variable Dice: Rerolling Substat Distributions

Experienced players know the frustration of a perfectly statted relic with poorly distributed substats. Variable Dice provides a solution.

After fully upgrading a relic, an enhancement screen option allows rerolling substats. This redistributes upgrades, potentially improving or worsening the relic. The die is consumed regardless of the outcome.

Variable Dice are rare. One is obtained per Nameless Honor (premium battle pass tier only). Alternatively, three Self-Modeling Resins craft one die. Use them judiciously on relics with potential for significant improvement.
