Ys Memoire: The Oath In Felghana - Death Faleon Boss Guide

Valestein Castle is one of the final dungeons you'll encounter in Ys Memoire: The Oath In Felghana, and it's one of the hardest, too. Coming packed with three bosses spread across the area, it puts all of your skills to the test in this winding castle.

Death Faleon is the first of these bosses you will face before you can head deeper into the castle. They're not the most complex of the bosses, though they're far from a Pushover either. Here's how to bring this assassin to heel.

Preparing For Death Faleon

With Valestein Castle being one of the hardest dungeons in the game, you can bet that you'll want to be very well equipped to handle it at all. As such, most of the tips suggested here will apply to every one of the bosses in the dungeon with only a few alterations.

• Try to at least be a minimum of level 35 approaching Valestein Castle. The enemies inside are tough, and hit incredibly hard which can have you defeated in short order without higher HP.
• Keep your armour and weapons upgraded. While you will find better equipment throughout the dungeon, don't be afraid to upgrade it if you're struggling.
• For Death Faleon specifically, you'll want to have every Ruby, Emerald and Topaz you can find. You'll have to use all of your magic bracelets during this fight.

It never hurts to have the Talisman of War to increase the length of your Boost, though it's far from essential for Death Faleon.

How To Defeat Death Faleon

Death Faleon's battle takes place in a relatively standard combat arena. Nice and big and no gimmicks. That makes avoiding the boss' attacks pretty easy, though means they can use slightly more complex mechaincs as well.

Somewhat like the Ligaty boss fight in the Elderm Mountains, Death Faleon can only be damaged by certain attacks. Specifically, they change colour throughout the fight, altering what types of damage they can receive. Here are each of these colours and what they can be damaged during:

• White - Only swords.
• Blue/Green - Ventus Bracelet.
• Yellow - Terra Bracelet.
• Red - Ignis Bracelet.

If Death Faleon has no specific colour on them, they can be damaged by everything.

While this makes it easy to know what can damage them, it is important to know that nothing else will damage them either. Not reduced damage, but no damage at all. As such, try not to flail about with magic so you're not left running around waiting for it to recharge.

To make things a bit easier, Death Faleon has no phase changes or new moves that get introduced as their HP reduces. Just focus on their colour. Their attacks aren't obscenely complex either, though they will bombard you with them. These include making spikes raise arund them and spiral outwards, fireballs that spread around the arena, and a series of charges like those used with the Terra Bracelet.

For the most part, you can tank the majority of Death Faleon's attacks by using Boost, and even restore some of that HP with Double Boost. Be aggressive against this boss and try to stay Close to them and you'll have them defeated in no time.

After beating them, they will drop the Organ Pipe key item, and two doors elsewhere in Valestein Castle will open up to let you explore further.
