While none of Valestein Castle was a cakewalk, Zirduros is a distinctive leap in difficulty. The final stop before the penultimate dungeon of Ys Memoire: The Oath In Felghana, let's put an end to this living weapon.

Preparing For Zirduros

Ys Memoire: The Oath In Felghana - Zirduros Boss Guide

Like the two previous bosses you faced in Valestein Castle, much of the same advice applies to Zirduros. They combine some of the harder aspects of Death Faleon and Zellfel Zam Schultiger, so let's dive into what you'll need to defeat them:

  • Get to level 36 thereabouts. This should let you safelt make a few mistakes without dooming the whole battle.
  • Having collected the full Battle equipment set, upgrade it fully if you're struggling against Zirduros.
  • The Terra Bracelet is massively helpful here, so gather up all the Topazes you can find, including the earlier one in Valestein Castle.
  • The damage negation of Double Boost is essential too, so try to get the Talisman of War from Randolph, which is gained by giving him the Jade Ring after trading Raval Ore with Antonio.

The battle with Zirduros is more about taking them down faster than they can defeat you. Be aggressive, but make sure you actually have the damage to take them down, too.

How To Defeat Zirduros

Zirduros is easily the most difficult of the trio of Valestein Castle's bosses, though they still have a rough pattern you can follow. What makes them so difficult though is that they bombard you with arena-spanning attacks constantly, while also only being able to be damaged from a very specific point on their back, their more fleshy tail.

Let's take a quick look at Zirduros' moveset before we go any further:

  • They'll fire rockets that strike randomly around the arena all at once. Just keep moving.
  • They'll fire two homing rockets that follow Adol. Outrun them or bash into them with the Terra Bracelet.
  • The boss will slam the ground with their tail and set down a bunch of mines. They mainly use this when you're behind them.
  • They will spin around in a circle and fire off their guns. Terra Bracelet through this or positon yourself behind them.
  • The boss leaps into the air and slams down near Adol. This also drops mines around them.
  • They'll fire a massive laser in one direction. Just step away from it.

There are quite a few moves here, and many of them have after-effects that make Zirduros hard to approach. This is why you want to rely on Double Boost, so you can just get in close and tank the damage. They don't actually have the most resistance, so you can take them down pretty quickly if you can stay consistently behind them.

Using the descending slash is a great way of dealing damage while also avoiding the mines.

The Terra Bracelet is easily the most helpful here as it has quite a wide window of invulnerability while also letting you move closer to the boss. Combine this with Double Boost when you're behind the boss and you won't even have to worry about using the Ventus Bracelet to get more hits in.

After Zirduros is defeated, a bridge will appear at the top of the room, revealing Elena and the missing grandson of Aida, Bob. Have a quick chat with them all and you'll be given the Clock Tower Key. You can now head into the penultimate dungeon of the game. Good luck.
