Surviving in The Forest is certainly not a piece of cake, as you get stranded on an island without any clue while being hunted by creatures and cannibals. While fighting these creatures, or traversing around the island, you’re Bound to get hurt and lose health.
The game doesn’t tell you how to heal, like every other survival game, thus confusing many. Don’t worry, The Forest does have a healing feature, and we’re here to familiarize you with it.
In The Forest, you can lose health in many ways, like eating poisonous food, falling from high places, getting damaged by various living beings, and worst yet, your friend.
Just like the game has different ways to get hurt, there are many ways to heal as well. Here are all the ways you can heal yourself in The Forest.
Meds are one of the first things you can get after starting the game. These can be found at the plane wreck and in suitcases spread around. Open the suitcases by hitting them with an axe or rock.
These suitcases also drop cloth pieces, outfits, and other items sometimes.
Meds are orange in color and can be found in abundance. You can find more in cannibal villages, caves, and dead bodies.
Keep in mind you can only carry a few in your inventory, so keep count of them.
You can craft yourself a herbal medicine to heal yourself. These function the same as regular medicine and stock up separately. There are two types of herbal meds in The Forest, and the crafting recipes are as follows:
You can use these extra meds during boss fights and keep your health up.
You can get passively healed over time by eating food. You can get enough of it by killing animals in the wilderness. Whether you want to eat it raw or cooked is simply up to you. But your main goal is to keep your stomach full to get healed.
Keep in mind that raw meat gets spoiled over time, so do not eat it.
Here is the list of raw items that can be found in the game:
