Marvel Rivals is a 6v6 team game where you often have to rely on your allies to Achieve victory despite good individual performances. As such, it may feel frustrating when you have been doing everything possible and yet you're unable to win because of skill difference between your team and the opponent.
As it happens, it's possible to solo carry games, and certain heroes that will make your task quite easy. If you're looking to rank up solo, here's a guide on all the heroes who can do that efficiently, including their move lists and potential counters to look out for.
While the heroes mentioned here will make it easier to solo carry, the player skill will matter at the end of the day when it comes to results and ranking up.
Solo carrying in a team game like Marvel Rivals is undoubtedly difficult. There are too many variables and sometimes doing your absolute best isn't enough. However, even though there isn't a perfect method to what works, you can always try to do the right thing to increase your chances.
One of the most essential tips to solo carry in this game is playing around objectives. It is very easy to get carried away in securing kills. However, being the highest kill-taker on the scoreboard doesn't mean you played well as you never focused on objectives which led to the opposition win.
Another crucial tip to consider when trying to solo carry games is increasing and improving communication. Ranked games can be frustrating and its easy to lose your cool and flame your team for making a mistake. However, you must not forget that flaming your team won't simply make them perform better.
Try to be a leader in-game and encourage your team even when things look down. A positive attitude can go a long way and help you win matches that may seem completely lost from every possible scenario.
Finally, switch heroes if there is an imbalance. If your team has already picked Duelists, go for a Vanguard or a Strategist. You can get MVP while playing both of those classes, and your choice can become the difference between a win or a loss.
The Punisher is a well-rounded low-difficulty Duelist who can deal massive damage from the backline and shred through both tanks and enemy healers with ease.

|

Punisher will shoot at enemies with two Gatlin Guns and a powerful missile. |
Vantage Connection |
Punisher can reach any height using a rope. |

Punisher can deploy a turret that will deal massive damage to enemies while blocking incoming projectiles. |
Scourge Grenade |
Punisher can throw a smoke grenade at enemies to blind them while pushing himself backward. |
Warrior's Gaze |
Punisher does not lose sight of his enemy even when they run away. |
Team Up Abilities |
|
Infinite Punishment |
If Rocket Racoon is in the team, he can throw an Ammo Overload Device that will provide Punisher with Infinite Ammo and high fire rate. |
Punisher's game plan is very simple. All you do is sit in the backline and shoot at the enemies. The reason why he is so good is because he can cover both long and short ranges. His Adjucation and Culling Turret will help you deal with tanks that keep their shields up all the time.
Once you start shooting at the enemy tank's shield with your turret, they will get shredded, allowing you to take them down easily. If someone jumps at you, switch to your Shotgun and you can take them down in two hits at most.
As Punisher, you are extremely self-sufficient when it comes to firepower and mobility, and if you ever need heals, just look for one of the health packs on the map to top yourself up. You won't have to rely on either your healer or your tanks to get anything done. As long as your aim is good, you will melt down everyone easily, thereby clearing up objectives and grabbing wins.
If things look rough, or you get surrounded, use your Scourge Grenade ability to run away.
Finally, your Ultimate ability is also very powerful, and you should use it to clean up enemies whenever its ready.
While Punisher is quite strong, there are a few heroes who can make things difficult for you. Magneto is the first one you should look out for as while Punisher can damage his shield, the former can return it back using the Mag Cannon ability. This will mean that Punisher won't be able to shoot freely at Magneto's shields, unlike the case of other tanks.
Jeff the Land Shark is also annoying for Punisher as he can swallow the latter along with his turret and throw him off the map. Punisher can also be swallowed during his ultimate ability, which means a lot of his kit is rendered meaningless.
Finally, Hawkeye is a hard counter to Punisher as the former can simply one-shot the latter with his arrow. This will mean that Punisher will die before he even has a chance to shoot which will make it hard for him to solo carry games.
Hawkeye is a high-difficulty DPS unit who can shoot arrows from a distance to shut down his enemies.
Normal Attack |
|
---|---|
Piercing Arrow |
Hawkeye can shoot a powerful arrow and deal damage to enemies. |
Blast Arrow |
Hawkeye can release three explosive arrows towards enemies. |

|

Hawkeye is able to trace the Afterimage of enemies and shoot at them to deal damage. He doesn't need to shoot directly at the enemy in this state. |
Crescent Slash |
Hawkeye can unsheath his Katana and slash at enemies. |
Hypersonic Arrow |
Hawkeye can release a powerful arrow that can slow enemies and knockdown airborne targets. |
Ronin Slash |
Hawkeye can unsheath his blade to deflect incoming projectiles. |
Skyward Leap |
Hawkeye can perform a double jump to reach elevated platforms. |
Archer's Focus |
Hawkeye can focus on a target and deal devastating damage to them using his Piercing Arrow |
Team Up Abilities |
|
Supersensory Vision |
Hawkeye allows Black Widow to share the Hunter's Sight ability when they are in one team. |
Hawkeye is all about aim and if you're confident in that, he is your best choice to solo carry games. As Hawkeye, stay at the backline, charge up your arrow, and shoot down enemies with a single shot. He's also the only hero in the game who can do that which makes him a top contender to solo carry games.
If an enemy is a Duelist or a Strategist, they will get one shot by Hawkeye, and in the case of Vanguard, you'll need two hits at most. This means that as long as you have good aim, you'll practically need just a couple of shots to clean up the map and free up objectives.
Additionally, he also has defensive capabilities where he can deflect incoming projectiles, knock back enemies with Crescent Slash if they get too close to him, and jump away to higher platforms with Skyward Leap.
If enemies every jump at you, fire your Blast Arrow at them as well since it deals a lot of damage and will push them backwards.
Your ultimate is also exceptionally strong and is particularly good at taking down flying enemies. Finally, being a backline hero, you never have to worry about heals as you can always grab the health packs on the map if you need one. This means you can do everything by yourself and never have to depend on your team to create openings for you.
Hawkeye is susceptible to any hero who can chase him even after he has knocked them back with Crescent Slash. There are two heroes who can do this effectively: Spider-Man and Psylocke. If you ever see these two heroes on the map and if they're good, you are in for a hard time.
Both of them are extremely mobile and its hard to aim at them no matter how good you are. They will rush at you even when you try to push them back and will shut you down with easy.
Venom is a low-difficulty Vanguard unit that soaks up enemy attacks and acts as the team's primary frontline.
Normal Attack |
|

Dark Predation |
Venom can use his tentacles to deal damage to enemies. |

|
Feast of Abyss |
Venom can dive underground and emerge while dealing massive damage to enemies over a small area. |

Venom can use his swing to travel across the map |

Venom gains additional health when taking damage. The amount of health gained increases when Venom's HP is critically low. |
Frenzied Arrival |
Venom can jump onto enemies from a high vantage point and knock them up. |
Cellular Corrosion |
Venom can use his tentacles to grab onto enemies and deal damage if they fail to flee. |
Alien Biology |
Venom is able to crawl and run over walls |
Team Up Abilities |
|
Touch of Klyntar |
Venom can share his Symbiotic powers with Spider-Man and Peni Parker who in turn can deal damage to enemies. |
Solo carrying with Venom is probably one of the easiest things to do in Marvel Rivals. For starters, you can deal a lot of damage to enemies with your Dark Predation ability. Since it has infinite ammo, you can spam it constantly, which will be very annoying to deal with.
Venom is one of those Vanguard units who can dive into the enemy backline. If you ever see the enemy healer and backline DPS being a problem, use your Venom Swing to jump onto them and then your Frenzied Arrival ability to knock them up. Finally, simply spam your Dark Predation to take them down.
One of the key points about Venom when it comes to solo carrying is using your Symbiotic Resilience properly. As long as you have this ability off cooldown, you cannot die. Once you activate it, and it goes into cooldown, run away from the fight for a bit and jump back in again when its ready. Just make sure to use it when your health drops below 25%, as that is when you get the maximum boost.
This will mean that you will never die, and the enemy will continue to focus on you, which will help you create space.
Always remember that solo carrying doesn't always mean taking kills, but it also means single-handedly creating space and enabling your team to grab wins.
As Venom, you can do that easily, since your Symbiotic Resilience ability makes you immortal. If you ever feel you might die and there's nowhere to run, use your ultimate ability as you not only deal damage, but also generate bonus health for yourself, which once again allows you to hold your ground in battle.
Magneto is arguably one of the most difficult heroes to play against as Venom. This is because one of the most important parts of Venom's kit which is Dark Predation gets negated by Magneto's Metallic Curtain ability. Additionally, Venom's attacks will charge up Magneto's Mag Cannon which will deal devastating return fire towards the former.
Hakweye is also annoying to play against as Venom since he can chip down your health and can take you down in two hits by hitting your head. In such a case, even your Symbiotic Resilience won't help you.
Magneto is a low-difficulty Vanguard unit that can block attacks from enemies and reflect them back to deal reverse damage.
Normal Attack |
|
---|---|
Iron Valley |
Magneto can throw magnetic rocks whose damage increase depending on the distance of the throw. |
Abilities |
|
Meteor M |
Magneto can gather materials from the surrounding to create a meteor that upon crashing deals massive damage. It can also suck in enemy projectiles for more damage. |
Metallic Curtain |
Magneto creates a shield that can block all incoming attacks. |
Metal Bulwark |
Magneto can summon a shield around an ally. When that shield takes damage, Magneto gains Mag-Cannon charges. |
Iron Bulwark |
Magneto creates a shield around himself which in turn absorbs damage and creates Mag-Cannon charges |
Mag Cannon |
The charges Magneto gathers can be converted into a Mag Cannon and launched at the enemy. The more stacks he has, the higher is the damage. |
Magnetic Descent |
Magneto can control his descent from the sky. |
Team Up Abilities |
|
Metallic Fusion |
Magneto's Greatsword is empowered by Scarlet Witch and he can wield it to deal devastating damage. |
Magneto is all about absorbing damage and throwing it back at the enemy. He can counter most of the DPS units in the game who have massive firepower, which is a major portion of the entire roster.
As Magneto, your key abilities are Iron Bulwark and Metal Bulwark which you can either use on your allies or yourself. This will pretty much negate all kinds of projectile attacks that the enemy might be throwing at you, which is going to happen a lot as players love to spam attacks.
All you have to do is keep creating your stacks and use your Mag Cannon to deal devastating damage back at the enemies. This means enemies will always be at low health which will make it hard for them to engage.
You can also drop your Metallic Curtain to block off any incoming projectile in-case the Bulwark abilities are on cooldown.
Finally, whenever you have the chance, use your ultimate ability to absorb projectiles and crash it to wipe out multiple enemies. This will pretty much frustrate the enemy team as their attacks will be futile, and you will keep standing like an immovable wall in front of them, making it easy to capture objectives and grab wins.
Magneto does not have any direct counters as if you're smart, you'll be very hard to kill regardless of the enemy. However, what you need to be careful about is the usage of your Bulwark abilities. If enemies corner you due to poor positioning, they can easily shatter your shields and leave you vulnerable.
Apart from that, Spider-Man can be an annoying enemy to deal with as he can stun you and prevent you from using your abilities. Mantis is also very difficult to play against as she can put you to sleep, which also prevents you from using your Bulwark shields, thereby putting you in a vulnerable position.
Spider-Man is a high-difficulty Duelist unit that can swing across the map and damage enemies by shooting spider webs.
Normal Attack |
|
---|---|
Spider-Power |
Spider-Man can swing his fists to deal damage. An enemy with Spider-Tracer takes extra damage. |
Web-Cluster |
Spider-Man can shoot a Web-Cluster and attach a Spider-Tracer on an enemy. |
Abilities |
|
Spectacular Spin |
Spider-Man can launch Web-Cluster in multiple directions and deal damage to enemies while stunning them as well. |
Web Swing |
Spider-Man can swing across the map covering large distances. |
Get Over Here |
Spider-Man can shoot a webbing and pull an enemy Close to him. If the enemy is marked by Spider-Tracer, Spider-Man will get launched at them instead. |
Amazing Combo |
Spider-Man can launch an enemy and deal damage. Enemy with Spider-Tracer takes extra damage. |
Thwip and Flip |
Spider-Man can perform a double jump. |
Passives |
|
Spider-Sense |
Spider-Man gets notified when enemies are nearby. |
Wall Crawl |
Spider-Man can crawl and run over walls, thereby covering difficult terrain with ease. |
Team Up Abilities |
|
Suit Expulsion |
Spider-Man gains Symbiotic abilities from Venom and can deal damage to enemies while knocking them up. |
Extra-Web Fluid |
Spider-Man can give Squirrel Girl a web bomb which she can throw at enemies. |
Solo carrying as Spider-Man will be a little more difficult than the rest as the character is hard to play. However, once you get used to his kit, nobody will be able to stop you from ranking up, not even your team.
As Spider-Man your biggest strength is the agility with which you can easily dive enemy backline and destroy their DPS and healers. All you do is swing in, attach a Spider-Tracer, use your Amazing Combo ability in combination with Spider-Power, and finish off your enemy.
If there are multiple enemies, activate your ultimate, which will stun enemies, damage them, and leave room for you to finish them off. However, on account of your Wall Crawl, Spider Swing, and Thwip and Flip, it'll be very hard to lock you down.
As such, you can easily take care of at least two to three enemies by yourself, thereby creating a massive advantage for your team and clearing up objectives. Finally, if enemies are trying to run from you, apart from using all your movement abilities, you can also use Get Over Here and pull them close to you.
This is sometimes important when your other options are on cooldown. Always remember, cooldown management is important if you want to solo carry as Spider-Man.
Make sure every time you press an ability, there's a purpose to it instead of wasting it. It will take some time to learn the timings, but once you do, you will rank up very fast.
Mantis is one of the best counters to Spider-Man as she can put him to sleep, thereby rendering all his abilities useless. Scarlet Witch is also decent against Spider-Man as her Chaos Control ability can drain the former's health very fast.
Mantis is a low-difficulty Strategist who can heal allies, put enemies to sleep, and provide buffs to the team.
Normal Attack |
|
---|---|
Life Energy Blast |
Mantis shoots an energy thorn and regains a Life Orb on landing a critical hit. |
Abilties |
|
Soul Resurgence |
Mantis releases energy around her where she provides healing overtime to all allies along with movement boosts. Any unit at full health gets the healing converted to bonus HP. |
Spore Slumber |
Mantis can put an enemy to sleep. |
Allied Inspiration |
Mantis absorbs a Life Orb and grants damage boost to allies. |
Natural Anger |
Mantis absorbs a Life Orb and grants self damage boost. |
Healing Flower |
Mantis consumes Life Orbs and provides allies healing over time. |
Nature's Favor |
Mantis automatically receives movement speed and healing over time when she is not injured. |
Team Up Abilities |
|
Nature's Soul |
Mantis receives rebirth when paired with Adam Warlock. |
Mantis can do a lot despite being an easy unit to play, and she's able to single-handedly change the course of a fight. Firstly, she can deal very good damage with her Life Energy Blast. Being a backline hero, you'll constantly annoy enemies with your headshots while also gaining Life Orbs for yourself.
Your healing overtime is very good, and your team will always be healthy as long as you are alive, making it very easy to control objectives. Additionally, you can boost the damage of your DPS when they trigger their ultimate abilities to make it easier to take down enemies. Finally, if you feel like it, you can increase your own damage and keep shooting your Life Energy Blast at the enemies dealing devastating damage.
Her ultimate is also very powerful as the bonus health can pretty much negate all kinds of burst attacks. All you need to do is time it right when an enemy is about to land a massive AoE ultimate, and your team will heal faster than they take damage. This will mean that an enemy's ultimate ability will be completely wasted, and now your team is at a massive advantage.
Overall Mantis's utility is unmatched in the game and her ability to deal damage, heal allies, buff allies, and shut down enemy ultimate, makes her one of the best characters for solo play.
While Mantis is very strong, she is also extremely squishy and is susceptible to dives. A hero like Punisher can shoot her down from a distance and kill her very quickly.
Hawkeye is also a very annoying hero to play against as he can one-shot Mantis from very far away, making it difficult for her to play the game.
Jeff the Land Shark is a low-difficulty Strategist who primarily functions as a healer in the game.
Normal Attack |
|
---|---|
Joyful Splash |
Jeff shoots a healing splash at enemies. |
Aqua Burst |
Jeff shoots powerful AoE projectiles at enemies that deal damage upon impact. |
Abilities |
|
It's Jeff |
Jeff can dive into the ground and swallow all enemies and allies within a AoE, thereby dealing damage to the former and launching everyone at a distance. |
Hide and Seek |
Jeff can dive underground with only his fin visible and receive healing during the duration. |
Healing Bubble |
Jeff drops healing bubbles on the ground that can be picked up by allies for heals and movement boost. |
Oblivious Cuteness |
Jeff takes less damage from critical hits. |
Team Up Abilities |
|
Frozen Spitball |
Jeff's abilities are powered up with Ice when paired alongside Luna Snow. |
New Friends |
Jeff can ride over Groot's shoulders and receive reduced damage in return. |
Jeff is very simple to play, but very effective as he has amazing potential to solo carry a team. While his Joyful Splash ability is very good, his true value comes from the Healing Bubble skill. These bubbles are like health packs that you can pretty much drop anywhere on the battlefield. This allows your team to stay a lot longer on the objective, making it easier to win games.
All you need to do is drop the bubbles in and around the objectives so that your allies get healed during fights. Additionally, you can shut down a lot of enemy ultimates by simply swallowing them and pushing them away from your team. If you time your abilities correctly, you can also protect your allies by swallowing them, and they won't take any damage from AoE ultimates of the enemy team.
Thereby, you will be wasting your enemy's most powerful skills and create a massive advantage for your team. Finally, its very hard to lock down Jeff since he can use the Hide and Seek ability to run away. This will help you to run away in case anyone tries to dive you.
The biggest counters to Jeff are enemies with high mobility. If there is a Spider-Man on the enemy team, he can simply jump away when you try to land your ultimate. The same goes for heroes like Venom, Hela, and Iron Man, who can all run away from Jeff's ultimate ability.
If you can't catch them, they will threaten your entire team and your ultimate will be wasted. Hawkeye is also difficult to play against as he can land headshots on you and kill you before you get to get close to him.
Hela is a medium-difficulty Duelist who can rain down destruction on enemies from the sky.
Normal Attack |
|
---|---|
Nightsword Thorn |
Hela throws Nightsword Thorns at enemies and deals massive damage. |
Abilities |
|
Goddess of Death |
Hela rises to the sky and rains down destruction at all enemies in view. |
Astral Flock |
Hela can transform into a Nastrond Crow and travel long distances. |
Soul Drainer |
Hela throws a grenade that can suck in enemies and stun them. |
Piercing Night |
Hela summon a group of Nightsword Thorns and shoots all of them at a targeted enemy. |
Nastrond Crowstorm |
Whenever Hela gets a kill, a Nastrond Crow spawns in the that location and explodes, damaging nearby enemies. |
Hel's Descent |
Hela can descend slowly to the ground. |
Team-Up Abilities |
|
Queen of Hel |
Hela grants bonus health to Loki and Thor when she scores a kill. |
Solo carrying as Hela is pretty simple as she has a well-rounded kit that deals damage while also providing her with an escape. Hela's Nightsword Thorns deal massive damage when you hit someone on the head, so that should always be your primary target.
If someone jumps at you, use your Astral Flock ability to run away to a safe location. Additionally, if you see multiple enemies diving, drop your Soul Drainer to stun the enemies and then use Astral Flock to escape.
Whenever your Ultimate is available, use it in a way where you'll have a view over multiple enemies and can take them down all at once. Overall, she has a very simple kit, but her damage and ability to escape makes her hard to deal with, and she can snowball games very quickly.
Your damage and ability to wipe out multiple enemies with your ultimate will help you to create space for your team and thereby make it easy to capture objectives.
Hela doesn't have any direct counters as her escape makes it hard to dive, while her damage is too high to deal with. However, if the enemy team picks Hela, you have to be careful as they can do the exact same things you may be doing. If they outperform you, there's nothing you can do but accept the loss.
Additionally, Hawkeye is a good counter to Hela as he can one-shot her, thereby removing the threat of the unit entirely.
