How to Build JARs from IntelliJ IDEA with External Dependencies

When working with multiple modules and dependencies, building JARs from IntelliJ IDEA can be a bit tricky. Let's guide you through the proper steps to create a JAR with your compiled module alongside its dependencies:

  1. Go to File -> Project Structure -> Project Settings -> Artifacts.

  2. Click the (plus sign) and select Jar -> From modules with dependencies...

  3. Select the module with the Main Class (if you want the JAR to be runnable).

  4. Enable Extract to the target Jar.

  5. Click OK to set the save location for the JAR.

  6. To build the JAR, go to Build -> Build Artifact -> Build.

After building, you can find the JAR file in the following path:

?ProjectName
┗ ?out
┗ ?artifacts

┗ ?ProjectName_jar
    ┗ ?ProjectName.jar
