The Toy Boxes are Fantasian Neo Dimension version of dungeons, packed with simple puzzles, a myriad of enemies, and some truly challenging bosses. You've already finished the Mini and Midi Toy Boxes, and the Maxi Toy Box is all that's left before you.

Fantasian Neo Dimension: Maxi Toy Box Walkthrough

And the Maxi Toy Box sure is the hardest. Multiple bosses, endless waves of enemies, and a series of puzzles that are just slightly more confusing than you might expect. Let's show you just how to master this dungeon, and not miss a thing.

Passing Through The Gauntlet

Fantasian Neo Dimension: Maxi Toy Box Walkthrough

Avoiding The Sentry Towers

After passing through Leo's house and making your way through another section of sewers, you'll finally be in the Maxi Toy Box. Like before, this one is littered with sentry towers, though many of them move this time around, and have a much better line-of-sight.

As before, battle them if you want some extra EXP, or avoid them if you'd rather not battle at all. There are quite a few more chests this time though, so it might be harder to not get seen entirely. Here's every item in this first section:

  • Three Remedies
  • Ten Fire Fragments
  • A Peridot L, which raises evasion.
  • A Potion L.

The Peridot L is the most significant item here, and is found at the end of a gauntlet featuring three opposing sentry towers. The majority of the enemies in this area are weak to either ice or fire, so they shouldn't be too much of a hassle with Leo's Fire Slash and Ez's Frost Grenade.

Beyond that, it's a relatively straightforward area. Just make your way towards the save point, and proceed into the next area.

Navigating The Floating Panels

Fantasian Neo Dimension: Maxi Toy Box Walkthrough

Graciously, this area has no Sentry Towers whatsoever, and swaps them out for a series of floating panel puzzles as well. Here, you have to tactically navigate the room on the floating panels, bringing up and down red and blue walls to open your way towards the final area.

It is fairly simple, though is a bit more convoluted if you want to gather up every item. To start, make your way towards the central platform, which will have three floating panels, and take it north. Proceed west from here to reach the red button. Before pressing it, continue east to pick up 12 Potion S.

After pressing the red button, every red wall will collapse and the blue ones rise. You must now go further east past the previously heightened red wall, and take the floating panel there southwards. On this new platform, take the left platform to be brought to a new section with a single chest containing 15,000 Gold. Return to the previous platform.

Go south from here, returning to the first area of the game. Continue west until you reach the now-lowered red wall, and reach a blue button. Push this to revert the walls back to their original positions.

Return to the previous platform with the floating panels, and instead of taking these panels, weave all the way around until you reach a solitary panel with a lowered blue wall. There is a Blue Quartz in the chest, which gives you an immunity to elemental weaknesses.

Finally, retrace your original path to lower the red walls again, and then take the floating panels on the central platform eastwards, which will lead you out of this area and towards a boss.

Defeating Frostian

Entering this next area will pit you against a boss, the Frostian. Leo's security truly does seem to be overkill. This boss isn't the most obscenely difficult one, but small mistakes can be immensely punishing. Let's take a quick look at their moves to start.

Move

Effect

Ice An Ice-elemental attack that hits a single party member.
Ice Spike Summons a series of spikes that randomly hit the party multiple times for low damage.
Ice Pillars Summons Ice Pillars to protect the boss. Destroying them all will cancel the boss' ultimate attack.
Ice Field This move has no effect, and is just used to signal the boss changing phase.
Eternal Blizzard The boss attacks every party member for high damage if all the Ice Pillars are not destroyed. This move is weakened the more Ice Pillars are destroyed.

Frostian has a pretty simple flow, and one that Leo can very easily take advantage of. Throughout this fight, Ez will act as your support, continually healing and using Attack and Defence up skills. As such, make sure to pack plenty of Protein Drinks, Potions and the like before starting this fight.

Frostian, being a solid block of ice, is incredibly weak to fire attacks. However, Zinikr has no support duties this fight, so he can dole out plenty of damage as well. In all honesty, Frostian doesn't hit particularly hard either, so you can focus all of Leo and Zinikir's efforts on battling.

The only move to worry about are the Ice Pillars. If left unchecked, these will allow Frostian to perform the powerful move, Eternal Blizzard. Thankfully, the more you destroy, the less damage the move does. And if you destroy them all, the move is canceled entirely.

This is the one instance where you'll want Ez to be on the offensive. Flame Grenades are great here for being able to target two or more of the Ice Pillars, while Fire Slash with Leo will quickly tear through them. More pillars will be summoned each time this move is cast, so always focus on destroying as many as possible, even if it means avoiding damaging the boss.

After all that, Frostian will be defeated, and you'll get a Sapphire L as a reward.

Opening Every Chest

Fantasian Neo Dimension: Maxi Toy Box Walkthrough

We are finally in the room of the Maxi Toy Box we have been looking for. Now we just need to find the chest that Cheryl's necklace is in. It can never be that easy though, and after you fight the enemies contained within the first chest, three more appear, with one of them randomly containing the jewel.

Fantasian Neo Dimension: Maxi Toy Box Walkthrough

No matter what you do, make sure not to open the ominous chest in the back room. This contains a boss that is next-to-impossible to defeat at the moment.

Except that's a lie. None of the chests contain the necklace. Instead, after you defeat the enemies in all of these ones, a final, golden chest appears. This one contains a boss, a rather fearsome one at that, so head into the back room to save the game and use a Heal Stone first.

Defeating Eternal Darkness

Eternal Darkness is perhaps not what you expected as a security system, looking more like a manifestation of death instead. But if you come unprepared, that's just what it ends up being. This boss functions somewhat differently

than previous bosses, so read through before taking them on.

Let's start off by taking a quick look at their move set

.

Move

Effect

Dark Deals a dark-elemental attack to a single character.
Disaster Hits every party member, and has a chance of reducing both attack and defence as well.
Group Attack (Up-close) The boss summons skeletal hands to attack every party member once.
Claw Of Endless Night (Up-close) Summons a series of spinning claws that hit every party member multiple times.
Energy Drain Saps HP from every party member and restores half of it to the boss.
Summon The boss summons two Gondolans in front of themself.

The unique gimmick of Eternal Darkness is that they alternate their distance from the party. They start at a distance, dealing mainly status effect moves to the party, before eventually moving closer and dealing more devastating moves. This works both ways, with the party dealing more damage when they move close as well.

The primary tactic here is to keep Ez on support at all times, and have both Zinikr and Leo buff themselves while the boss is at a distance. So Zinikr should be using Blade Break and Charge, while Leo should be using Helm Bash and Concentrate, or Focus if he's in need of MP. Ez should be using Attack and Defence Up if he has the items available.

If Leo is fully buffed, then this free time is great to try Steal the Ruby M from the boss.

After a few turns, the boss will move in close, where they follow a preset pattern - two uses of their group attack, and then uses Claw of Endless Night before flying away right after. When they're close, you want to lay into them as much as possible, and this is why it's important to be fully buffed beforehand. You don't want to waste turns here.

This pattern continues for the whole fight with no major changes, though the boss will start to drain your HP and summon enemies to help them when they're at a distance after their HP gets low. Focus on the Gondolans first, as they can quickly become a nuisance.

With Eternal Darkness defeated, you can finally claim the Blue-Jeweled Necklace, and head to the Machine Realm to save Kina and Cheryl.
