Red Dead Redemption 2 has more items, NPCs, and challenges than anyone can count which makes the game exciting even after all this time. But, some items in the game intrigued players more than others and one of those is the meteorite.

Red Dead Redemption 2: Meteorite Location Guide

Meteorite is one of many collectible items that can be found in the huge world of Red Dead Redemption 2. However, it is slightly different from the others in that it is tied to a small mystery. Everybody knows where some meteorites are but not all so theories started being developed around it.

How To Find All Meteorites?

Meteorites are one of those interesting things that you stumble upon as you explore the extremely detailed surroundings in Red Dead Redemption 2 and aren’t part of any mission. Two of them are actually found in the northeast part of the map in the Roanoke Valley, as shown in the image above.

One is located in a house that upon visiting will be marked as Meteor House. As you approach the house you will see a hole in the roof and when you step in you’ll see a gruesome scene of what seems like a whole family being killed by this thing from outer space. Go closer to the smoking hole in the ground and you will be prompted to pick up a meteorite.

Another meteorite is located just northwest of the Meteor House. When you arrive at the location marked above you’ll see a big crater with a large hollow stone in the middle. Approach the rock and there will be 2 prompts there, the first one will let you inspect the site which will make Arthur/John draw the location in their notebook, and the second one will offer you to pick up the meteorite.

The whole setup indicates that a large meteor crashed where the big crater is and that the one found in the Meteor House was just a piece that fell off during the fall. As with many others, an interesting occurrence in the open world that tells you a story without giving you a specific mission for it.

Where Is The Third Meteorite?

After picking up the two initial meteorites in the game you’ll see that your satchell will say “Carrying 2 out of 3”. The location of the third meteorite has been one of the main topics of plenty of subreddits and articles because nobody can actually find it. Since Red Dead Redemption 2 was released in October 2018 many concluded that the location of the third meteorite is probably bugged or a forgotten feature.

How To Get 3 Out Of 3 Meteorites?

Even though there aren’t three meteorites, you can get the third meteorite through a glitch. To get it you need to go to the big crater and pick up the meteorite without inspecting the rock. Then go far away from the crater and come back after an in-game day has passed (we went to Valentine and back with fast travel). You’ll see that a new meteorite has spawned there.

Getting all meteorites through an obvious bug probably isn’t what Rockstar planned but it does the trick if you want to collect them all.

If you have inspected the rock already, you won't be able to exploit this glitch. Load an older save where you haven't inspected the rock and follow the steps outlined above.
