Pokemon Go is hosting a new Research Day this weekend, a specific type of event centered around completing Timed Research Tasks and catching specific Pokemon. This upcoming Research Day, the Aspiring Dragons Research Day, will feature different Pokemon, many being Dragon-types or those that can be evolved into Dragon-types.
As the name of this event implies, the Aspiring Dragons Research Day will only be available for a few hours, taking place on Saturday, December 7, 2024, from 2pm local time to 5pm local time. Featured Pokemon
As with any Research Day in Pokemon Go, there will be a handful of featured Pokemon for this event. In the case of the Aspiring Dragons Research Day, there will be four different Pokemon featured, each either being a Dragon-type or a Pokemon that can be evolved into one.
These four featured Pokemon include:
- Trapinch
- Horsea
- Skrelp
- Swablu
In order to encounter these featured Pokemon during this event, you will need to complete different Event Field Research Tasks, obtained from visiting and spinning different PokeStop Photo Discs. Completing these tasks will require you to complete a specific in-game objective, providing you with an encounter with one of the four featured Pokemon.
As a staple of Research Day events, any of the featured Pokemon that you encounter as a Field Research Task reward will have increased chances of being Shiny. Shiny Pokemon are extremely rare in Pokemon Go, so this is a great opportunity to acquire at least one of these rare variants, maybe even all four.
Wild Encounter Pokemon
In addition to encountering featured Pokemon through Field Research, you will also see a change in the Pokemon you encounter in the wild during this Research Day. There will be six different event-themed Pokemon appearing more frequently in the wild, including:
- Yanma
- Spearow
- Dwebble
- Ducklett
- Binacle
- Carvanha
Don't Timed Research
You will have the option of purchasing additional Timed Research for the Aspiring Dragons Research Day, further enhancing this three-hour event. If you are interested in benefiting from this Timed Research, you will need to purchase it from the Pokemon Go in-game shop, costing $2.00 USD.
Those who have purchased this Timed Research will be granted access to different Timed Research missions, requiring you to complete different Field Research Tasks. Each time you complete one of these Timed Research objectives, you will be rewarded with an encounter with one of the four featured Pokemon for this event.
Additionally, with this Timed Research, you will be able to choose which of the four featured Pokemon you encounter as a reward, allowing you to obtain whichever featured Pokemon you would like. Pokemon encountered through this Timed Research will have the same increased Shiny odds as those encountered through Field Research Tasks.
Even if you purchase this Timed Research, you will only have until the end of this event to complete it.
