The events just keep coming in Pokemon TCG Pocket. The most recent solo battle event, the Venusaur Drop Event, challenges players to defeat powerful Grass-type decks to earn promo packs containing exclusive new cards and new art treatments for popular first partner Pokemon.

Pokemon Pocket: Venusaur Promo Event Guide

Following directly on the heels of the Fire Pokemon Mass Outbreak Event means that you should be well-equipped to take on this challenge, but that doesn't always mean you won't need any help to complete your collection before Venusaur and friends vanish for good. Here's everything you need to add Venusaur to your collection.

What Is The Venusaur Drop Event?

Pokemon Pocket: Venusaur Promo Event Guide

The Venusaur Drop Event is a Solo Battle event that runs from November 29, 2024, until December 13, 2024. During this event, there are four tiers of Solo Battles available that you can only challenge within the timeframe, each with missions and prizes.

The event runs from midnight on November 29 until 11:59PM on December 13, Central Time (CT). Check your in-game clock for the exact end time in your timezone.

The event introduces five new promo cards, including a new full-art version of Venusaur and two mechanically unique cards to give you new options for deckbuilding.

Venusaur Event New Items

Pokemon Pocket: Venusaur Promo Event Guide

Like the Lapras ex Drop Event a couple of weeks prior, the Venusaur Drop Event introduces five new promo cards, two of which are mechanically unique at the time of release.

The chase card of the event is a full-art Venusaur card featuring Venusaur sleeping next to a cozy garden. Fortunately for competitive players, this card is functionally identical to the one available in Genesis Apex: Mewtwo packs, so you won't need to grind hard to build a deck around a new card.

A new version of Jigglypuff with Sing, which puts your opponent's Active Pokemon to sleep for just one Colorless Energy, and a new version of Haunter with Surprise Attack offer new options for deckbuilding.

Jigglypuff's Sing attack is particularly powerful and may make a splash, providing sleep support for a variety of decks.

Pokemon Pocket: Venusaur Promo Event Guide

Venusaur isn't a great card, although it's a fair substitute in a Venusaur ex deck while you're trying to open the stronger version. On the other hand, Greninja is the rarest card in the Greninja/Weezing deck, which makes the new art promo a welcome addition.

The other reprint is Onix, featuring art from the Pokemon TCG Lost Thunder expansion.

The event also reveals a few new accessories not yet available to players: the CPU opponent uses a Venusaur playmat, sleeves, and coin featuring Venusaur and Bulbasaur by a pool of water at sunset.

The Lapras ex Drop Event used Meowth accessories that were released later as part of the first Wonder Pick Event. Since the game data includes a Chansey-stamped Bulbasaur, these accessories are likely to appear in the next Wonder Pick Event.

Venusaur Drop Event Battles

Pokemon Pocket: Venusaur Promo Event Guide

There are four Solo Battles available during the Venusaur Drop Event, and each one costs one Event Stamina to challenge. That Event Stamina is only spent on a successful attempt, so challenge the highest difficulty deck that you can handle.

The higher the difficulty, the more likely you are to receive a Promo Pack. The Expert-level deck rewards a Promo Pack every time you beat it.

Beginner - Ivysaur Deck

Pokemon Pocket: Venusaur Promo Event Guide

The Beginner deck is a basic deck built out of Basic Pokemon with a few Stage 1 Pokemon and two Pokeballs for support. All 18 Pokemon in this deck are weak to Fire, and the strongest one, Ivysaur, only has 90 HP. This should be a simple game for any Fire deck.

The deck has two Battle Tasks that can be completed for rewards, plus a chance to win one Shop ticket, 25 Shinedust, and one Promo Pack A Series Vol. 2 pack.

Intermediate - Venusaur & Scyther Deck

Pokemon Pocket: Venusaur Promo Event Guide

The Intermediate deck gets a couple of upgrades, swapping in one copy of Venusaur and two Scythers. It also picks up Professor's Research and a Farfetch'd, making it a little more reliable and slightly less susceptible to Fire-type attacks.

Venusaur takes some time to set up, so you should have no problem using the same Fire deck as you used before.

The deck has three Battle Tasks that can be completed for rewards, plus a chance to win one Shop ticket, 25 Shinedust, and one Promo Pack A Series Vol. 2 pack.

Once you get a Jigglypuff with Sleep, swap it into your deck to easily earn three Event Hourglasses from putting your opponent's Pokemon to sleep.

If you throw the match afterward, you'll get three Event Hourglasses and save your Event Stamina to use for a battle with a higher chance of getting a Promo Pack.

Advanced - Venusaur ex Deck

Pokemon Pocket: Venusaur Promo Event Guide

The advanced Venusaur ex deck upgrades several cards, swapping weak Grass-type Pokemon like Weedle for tanky Colorless-type Pokemon like Kangaskhan. The main function of these Pokemon is to soften your Active Pokemon while buying time for the PC to find and power up Venusaur ex.

Venusaur ex needs four Energy for its strongest attack and three for the weaker attack. Using Sabrina to force the CPU to swap in Venusaur ex or Ivysaur will allow you to attack before it can get enough energy, or force the CPU to waste Energy or an X-Speed to swap it back out.

The deck has four Battle Tasks that can be completed for rewards, plus a chance to win one Shop ticket, 25 Shinedust, and one Promo Pack A Series Vol. 2 pack.

Expert - Venusaur ex & Lilligant Deck

Pokemon Pocket: Venusaur Promo Event Guide

The Expert deck almost feels like you're playing against a real opponent, or at least someone who knows the ins and outs of deckbuilding. Petilil and Lilligant replace the Gogoat line, giving the deck some much-needed Energy acceleration.

Erika and Sabrina also make an appearance, giving this deck the tools to stay in the game.

Your opponent will try to attack with Lilligant at every opportunity, using Leaf Supply's Energy acceleration to power up Venusaur ex. Getting early KOs on Lilligant and Ivysaur is key to shutting this deck down before Venusaur ex becomes a major threat.

The deck has five Battle Tasks that can be completed for rewards, plus a chance to win one Shop ticket and 25 Shinedust. Since this is the highest difficulty, you'll always receive one Promo Pack A Series Vol. 2 pack.

Supports almost all languages, including RTL (Arabic and Hebrew) and CJK (Chinese, Japanese and Korean). Supports nested block-level elements (such as P, DIV),
