There are some quests in Dragon Quest 3 Remake that are very straightforward: go to a place, defeat a person, get a thing, and you've done it. There are other quests that are much less so, and it's up to you to piece together things you've heard from characters or gathered from paying attention to the world to figure out what to do.

What to do about the village of Norvik is one of the latter instances, where you simply stumble across something that's peculiar, and you naturally figure out how to fix the problem by exploring the world and talking to a specific set of characters.

The Sleeping Village Of Norvic

Most players are going to simply stumble across the village of Norvic, with no real idea of what to expect inside. It's directly north of Romaria, and then north and slightly east of Khoryv.

Upon arriving in the village, you'll notice that every single person inside has fallen asleep standing up. There are no real clues to speak of in the village itself as to what's causing this, so after a little exploration, it's safe to leave the village and head to the next step, the Faerie Village.

Go To The Faerie Village

From Norvic, go to the east and slightly south through the forest. There's a path through the trees to follow, though there are plenty of items to collect along the way if you're willing to trek a little off the beaten path.

Once you're almost to the coast, you'll find a tree on a hill that's slightly larger than others and with little floating lights moving around it. Head to it, and you'll be in the Faerie Village.

Once you're actually in the Faerie Village, you don't get much in the way of conversation from most people inside. The Faeries are not going to want to talk to you, and speaking to the Queen in the Throne Room on the North side of the village is going to result in her telling you to leave.

However, there is an old man who will speak to you near the center of the village, standing near the pond. He mentions the sleeping people in Norvic, and explains further, mentioning the Princess of the Faeries. After his conversation, you'll need to head to the next location, the Underground Lake.

Go To The Underground Lake

From the Faerie Village, you may naturally want to finish exploring the little outcrop of land. When doing so, heading just slightly to the west is going to reveal the Underground Lake, which looks like a cave, just before you get to the coast.

Before you head inside the Underground Lake, be sure that your characters are rested and ready to tackle a dungeon, because there are going to be quite a few fights inside.

Underground Lake B1

Dragon Quest 3 Remake: How To Wake The Villagers In Norvik

The first floor of the Underground Lake is fairly straightforward. Fight along the path and explore the edges to find some loot waiting for you. The southwest side is going to contain a Priest mentioning the voices of lamentation in the chambers below, which is a bit of a hint to where this quest is heading.

The two paths that lead to the right connect to each other, but it's worth heading in that direction for the loot and the monster you can recruit to your monster menagerie.

Once you've finished that way, head to the path leading to the left.

Underground Lake B2

This room of the Underground Lake is going to be extremely beneficial, particularly if you're getting low on either health or MP. There is a shrine on this floor, located at the end of the twisting path at the very beginning of the floor, which restores all your character's health and MP to full. It costs nothing, and you can walk onto it as many times as you'd like.

Moving to the north path is worthwhile for the loot that it entails, and once you've gathered all of that, head southwest to move to the next floor.

Underground Lake B3

There are two exits to this floor of the Underground Lake, but the exit that heads north is a dead-end containing a chest. Gather that, and explore the other dead-end in the room before you head for the path to the south leading to the final floor.

Underground Lake B4

This is the last floor of the Dungeon, and it's a quick one. A short path leads up to a structure in the center of the room. On it, there's a wooden box surrounded by statues on all sides.

Open the box, and you'll find a letter from the Faerie Princess, addressed to her mother, the Queen. Read the sad letter explaining the situation and providing the answer you've been looking for.

From here, you're free to leave the Underground Lake, either by traveling out of it manually or by using Zoom to teleport back to the Faerie Village.

Talk To The Faerie Queen

Dragon Quest 3 Remake: How To Wake The Villagers In Norvik

Once you're back in the Faerie Village, go and talk to the Faerie Queen. You'll get the same line of dialogue at first, but then she'll notice you're holding the letter. She reads the letter, laments what her actions have done, and will attempt to rectify them.

The Queen then hands you Wakey Dust, implores you to lift the curse she put on the place, and wake the town.

Use The Wakey Dust On Norvic

Dragon Quest 3 Remake: How To Wake The Villagers In Norvik

Once you're in Norvic, you'll be prompted to use your Wakey Dust. Do so, and you'll be granted a cutscene of the dust working and waking the villagers from their slumber.

From there, Norvic is alive and well! The villagers will be confused as to what happened; for them, no time seems to have passed at all besides a light little nap. But, the functionality of the village will be open to you from then on, with an Inn and a Shop, though Norvic does not have a Chuch.
