By completing Apex Machine Hunts, you’ll unlock Apex Bricks - these are Red Bricks, similar to the standard Gold Bricks you get from completing levels and mission board objectives. But the game doesn’t immediately explain what they’re for, so… what are they for?

So, what are these new levels? You’ll return to older areas of the game, either wilderness or Cauldrons, and attempt to fight tougher enemies in a boss battle. This could be a stronger machine with others to back it up, or one of the bigger boss machines with more powerful and dangerous attacks.

These don’t add much in beyond what you’ve already faced in the main game, but will just require more skill and higher-level characters.

What Do You Get For Completing An Apex Machine Hunt?

After you complete an Apex Machine Hunt, you’ll receive an Apex Brick, which will accumulate at the top of the screen next to your Gold Bricks.

You’ll also continue to unlock decorations for Mother’s Heart, new outfits, and anything else you normally would for standard levels.

After completing a level, your screen will let you know you’ve hit a new Apex Brick Milestone, adding them up.

Collecting all the Apex Bricks within an area will unlock Expeditions in that region. Expeditions allow you to return in more of a free-play style, running through levels and battles to level up and obtain more studs.

You won’t get any more Gold or Apex Bricks for completing an expedition - you’ll only receive a blue ghost brick, which doesn’t count towards anything.

There are a total of 16 Apex Bricks to collect, and once you’ve grabbed them all… well that’s it. You have 16 of them. You don’t get any special unlocks or further challenges, and you’re pretty much wrapped up in terms of that extra content.
