If you've been wandering around the Ravenwood world added in The Sims 4: Life & Death, then you've no doubt stumbled upon a crypt or two. Different from the standard gravestones around the cemetery in Crow's Crossing, crypts are larger structures for multiple bodies - and you can explore each one.
The bravest Sims willing venturing into the crypts in The Sims 4: Life & Death may find themselves with any number of treasures. You'll find gemstones, several of the tarot cards for Lady Ravendancer Goth's deck, scary moodlets, and so much more within the crypts in The Sims 4.
Whether it's the pair of them located in the back corner of the Eternal Rest cemetery in Crow's Crossing, the one out in front of the rather peculiar Specter family lot, or any placed at your discretion around the world, The Sims 4: Life & Death introduced the crypt item to the game, and it serves a number of functions (in addition to making any homemade cemetery look that much more polished!).
By interacting with a crypt, you can do a number of things. Did you head to the cemetery with a friend? Pop into a crypt and tell ghost stories within them, which might make your Sim feel Playful. Did you go to the crypts with someone who's more than a friend? If you're feeling scandalous, you could even Woohoo in them now. Want to sleep in a more literal sense instead? Head inside and take a nap - these are probably the quietest neighbors you'll ever have.
While you can also do it in the normal slew of ways (like from your Sim's cell phone or a computer on any lot), you're also able to join the Undertaker career when you interact with a crypt around Ravenwood. Maybe your Sim just feels inspired to do so, and maybe helping the dead or their surviving relatives is their calling?
The biggest part of the crypts in The Sims 4: Life & Death, though, is undoubtedly the ability to explore the crypts in a series of text-based adventures! If you're trying to hunt down rare loot like gemstones, tarot cards, and more.
If your Sim isn't afraid of the dark, then you'll have the opportunity to explore the crypts via chance cards anytime your Sim comes across one. They'll head inside for a while, and while you wait above ground for them to return, you'll be prompted with a series of text-based chance card adventures that can do any number of things.
You might need to pass a skill check to choose certain answers, and different choices may lead to different treasures or pathways within, so it's almost always something different each time you explore! You'll be tested on your physical Fitness and smooth-talking Charisma skills directly, and you may want to have experience with a musical instrument before heading inside, too. It also doesn't hurt to bring a snack or two in your inventory.
And who knows? You might even stumble onto a few of the missing tarot cards you needed to complete Lady Ravendancer Goth's Tarot Deck, if you've started that collection! The suit cards all come from within the crypts.
You might also periodically run into Waylon Warez, the Mysterious Merchant, who runs a pop-up shop within the crypts in Ravenwood. You'll be able to randomly get an object from him when you find him within the crypts, ibncuding another tarot card, but finding him is never a guarantee.
If you haven't elected to explore the crypts on your own, there are two reasons you might need to even outside the tarot deck collection. Not only does the Ghost Historian aspiration ask you to explore a crypt a few times over, seeking rare items in the crypts for two of the four milestones in the aspiration, but if you're trying to help the ghastly Alice near the Guardian Tree with Alice's Sorrow, head into a crypt and get to searching.
As part of the Alice's Sorrow quest, you'll find Deimos, one of her children, inside a crypt. He's got his own special card, requiring some Thanatology skill experience. You'll need to choose to "Read the Stone Tablet" when it comes up, and doing so completes the requirement to find Deimos for the quest.
