Sparking Mode is one of the most vital tool in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero. This enhanced state lets your fighter access their Ultimate Blast, the most potent attack in their arsenal. However, while landing Ultimate Blasts is a priority during Sparking Mode, they shouldn't be the only technique you rely on.
Sparking Mode unlocks many combat choices, including near-infinite combos, impactful launchers, fierce knockdowns, lightning-fast movements, and so much more. You'll also have a better chance of landing your Ultimate Blast if you use these advanced techniques to break down your enemy's defenses.
Sparking Mode is an enhanced battle state that gives fighters access to special abilities, including unguardable attacks, prolonged rush attacks, super movements, and your Ultimate Blast.
There are similar parallels to Sparking Mode across the fighting game genre. For example, Vampire Savior (Darkstalkers 3) has an enhanced state called "Dark Force," which gives each character a unique special ability for a limited time.
You can activate Sparking Mode if you have one skill point available. Then, follow one of the two methods below:
We know you're rushing to unleash that Ultimate Blast on your foe. But remember, you have an entire Sparking gauge available to use. Incorporating the advanced techniques below will make cashing in that Ultimate Blast much sweeter!
Violent Rush is an auto-combo you can perform by repeatedly pressing the Square (□) / X button. Essentially, a Violent Rush is like a Rush Attack with the volume turned up to eleven.
Most characters have a Violent Rush that caps after 21 hits. Many high-tier characters have Violent Rushes that continue for 25-30 hits!
Lastly, a few characters have a Violent Rush with hit properties that allow them to continue infinitely under specific circumstances (ex, Caulifla, Super Saiyan 2)!
Not every character has a Violent Rush. For example, Guldo does not have a Violent Rush. However, he has a Burst Rush, which we'll explain briefly.
A Burst Rush is identical to a Violent Rush, except it gets performed out of a Z-Burst Dash. Since Z-Burst Dashes transport you behind your opponent, Burst Rushes are more challenging to counter and guard against.
An additional benefit of Burst Rushes is that you can cap them off with a Burst Finish.
A Burst Finish is a knockback attack performed during a Burst Rush. Press Triangle (△) / Y to launch your opponent into the air. If you wish to pound your foe into the ground, press Triangle (△) Left Thumbstick ⬇️ / Y Left Thumbstick ⬇️.
Burst Finishes provide an excellent opportunity to render your foe defenseless against an Ultimate Blast. You can also follow a Burst Finish with an additional attack string.
A Sparking Combo lets you connect Chain Combos and Super Blasts to other Blasts. Your Sparking Combo is a straightforward and effective way to deal heavy damage while in Sparking Mode.
Here is a starter Sparking Combo you can try:
Suppose you need to distance yourself from an aggressive opponent. In that case, you can knock them back with a Hyper Smash attack by holding down the Square (□) / X button.
Heavy Smashes are also great for opening up a defensive opponent. For example, after landing a Heavy Smash, quickly perform a Z-Burst Dash into a Burst Rush to punish a foe who won't stop guarding.
You can pull off several hyper-fast movements in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero. However, Super Movement goes even further, allowing you to instantly transport in any direction.
To perform a Super Movement press R1 Left Thumbstick (⬆️⬇️⬅️, or ➡️) / RB Left Thumbstick (⬆️⬇️⬅️, or ➡️) during a Dragon Dash.
Super Movements can hurl you toward your opponent faster than a Z-Burst Dash. In long-range movement, Super Movements will let you dodge incoming ki blasts. Lastly, you can use Super Movements to quickly evade an incoming foe.
Not all characters can perform Super Movements. Check your fighter's move list for more information.
Sparking Mode's last perk is auto-reflection of Rush Ki Blasts and Smash Ki Blasts. As its name implies, auto-reflection happens automatically. You do not have to press R1 / RB like you would for a regular ki blast reflection.
So, we covered all of Sparking Mode's advanced techniques. Now what? You'll have to jump into training mode to explore all the possibilities available to your character. However, we're happy to offer you a fun trial to engage your imagination!
Let's incorporate some of the tools we learned
into an attack string. We'll perform these actions in sequence:This sequence allows you to quickly ambush your opponent, deal significant damage with a Burst Rush, continue your assault in the air with a Burst Finish, and Sparking Combo into your Ultimate Blast
. We estimate you'll wipe out two to three life stocks by the end of the sequence.Refer to the tables below for command inputs:

Are you tired of constantly charging your ki in Training Mode? Open the pause menu and enter Training Settings, then Gauge Settings, and set the Player Ki Gauge and Sparking Gauge options to "Max."
To track your Sparking Gauge usage, set Player Ki Gauge to "Max" and Sparking Gauge to "Normal." You'll still have to recharge your Sparking Gauge, but it won't take as long.
