Major U.S. stock indexes closed mixed on Friday, with the Dow hitting a record high, while the S&P 500 crossed the 6,000-point threshold for the first time ever. The technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite advanced slightly.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 259.65 points, or 0.59%, to close at 43,988.99. The S&P 500 gained 22.44 points, or 0.38%, to end at 5,995.54, also notching a record closing high.

The Nasdaq Composite edged up 17.32 points, or 0.09%, to close at 19,286.78.

For the week, the Dow advanced 4.61%, the Nasdaq rose 5.74%, and the S&P 500 gained 4.66%.

Among the best performing S&P 500 stocks were Tesla (TSLA.US), which rose 8.19%, and NVIDIA (NVDA.US), which fell 0.84%.

Other notable S&P 500 movers included Apple (AAPL.US), which fell 0.12%, and Amazon (AMZN.US), which fell 0.89%.

European stocks fell on Friday, extending losses from the previous session, as weak data from China and the U.S. raised concerns about the strength of the global economic recovery.

The German DAX 30 index fell 153.66 points, or 0.79%, to close at 19,213.95. The UK FTSE 100 index fell 70.12 points, or 0.86%, to close at 8,070.62.

The French CAC 40 index fell 86.93 points, or 1.17%, to close at 7,338.67. The Euro Stoxx 50 index fell 49.81 points, or 1.03%, to close at 4,802.15.

The Spanish IBEX 35 index fell 15.00 points, or 0.13%, to close at 11,555.10. The Italian FTSE MIB index fell 169.23 points, or 0.50%, to close at 33,812.00.

Asian stock markets were mixed on Friday, with the Nikkei 225 index falling marginally, while the Jakarta Composite Index in Indonesia rose and the KOSPI index in South Korea edged lower.

The Nikkei 225 index fell 0.3%.

The Jakarta Composite Index rose 0.6%.

The KOSPI index fell 0.14%.

Bitcoin rose 0.7% on Friday, continuing to set new historical highs, while Ethereum advanced over 2%.

Bitcoin was trading at $76,447.89 by 21:01 ET (02:01 GMT). The world's largest cryptocurrency hit a record high of $76,967.34 earlier in the session.

Ethereum rose 2.04% to $2,958.23 per coin.

U.S. WTI crude oil fell 2.7% on Friday as traders eased concerns over long-term disruptions to crude oil supply due to hurricanes in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, leading to a decline in oil prices.

The futures price of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil for December delivery fell by $1.98, a decrease of 2.74%, closing at $70.38 per barrel. This futures contract rose approximately 1.3% over the week.

Gold futures fell on Friday, extending losses from the previous session, as traders awaited more cues on the outlook for U.S. monetary policy and inflation.

COMEX gold futures fell 0.52%, trading at $2,691.60 per ounce, with a cumulative decline of 2.09% this week.

COMEX silver futures fell 2.20%, trading at $3.1410 per ounce, with a cumulative decline of 3.89% this week.

LME copper futures fell by $220 to close at $9,444 per ton.

LME aluminum futures fell by $74 to close at $2,620 per ton.
