Foraging is one of the professions that you can take up in Hopeport while playing Brighter Shores. This important profession is necessary to level up if you are looking to be an Alchemist or Chef as well, since it involves gathering the right ingredients.
There is a lot to foraging, as well as a variety of tools that you will need to use in order to get the job done. In this guide, we are going to take a look at everything you need to know about foraging in Brighter Shores. This will also include how to get started, for those who are completely new to foraging.
Brighter Shores is currently in Early Access on Steam and as such, the content is subject to change. We will update these articles as required.
To start foraging, you don't need a single tool! When Hopeport first opens up to you, you'll be a level 0 Forager, and only be able to forage for Brown Kelp. Fortunately, you've probably already gathered this before during the tutorial section of the game.
If you need a refresher, Brown Kelp is found on the East Beach, directly below the Sea Road. By picking up the kelp here, you'll gain some experience. You'll need to collect Brown Kelp until you reach level two. Once you do, you'll be able to buy Secateurs, which are used to gather the level two foragables.
There are three tools that you will use for foraging; Secateurs, a Trowel, and a Pond Net. All three of these have upgraded versions that you'll need to purchase in order to fully max out the profession as well. Below, you can check out each piece of equipment as well as their upgrades.
|
Base Level Required | Base Cost | Upgraded Versions Unlocked At | ||||||||||||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Secateurs | 2 | 13 Silver 200 Copper | Ver. 2: Level 84 (374 Silver) | ||||||||||||||||
Trowel | 6 | 46 Silver 800 Copper | Ver. 2: Level 78 (352 Silver) | ||||||||||||||||
Pond Net | 10 | 54 Silver | Ver. 2: Level 102 (439 Silver) |
All Forager equipment can be purchased from The Forager's Warehouse, which is on the north side of Old Street East. This is the street area right before the Town Gates.
Plants around Hopeport will upgrade as you level up, which allows you to revisit an area and have it still be relevant. For example, instead of putting Brown Kelp behind you, it will upgrade to Green Kelp once you become a level 47 Forager.
This is important to keep in mind when working on leveling other professions. If you see a dish that needs a potato variety, this will be the usual place that potatoes are found in. We'll go into more detail on each foragable type and its location later.
The three pieces of Forager equipment can all be enchanted at the Enchantress of Hopeport. Here, you can pay a hefty amount of silver to gain an experience boost that is tied to the item slot.
This means that you can buy the Secateurs enchantment for 55 silver in order to get a 0.4 percent XP boost, and then purchase the upgraded Secateurs and still have the enchantment.
If you have enough money, we highly suggest enchanting your equipment, as it can make the leveling process go by just a bit quicker.
Now for what we've all been waiting for; a list of every foragable in Brighter Shores. This will list out every possible foragable item, as well as what level it unlocks at. After, we'll look at the exact location for each foragable type.
