If combos and finesse are your preferred approach to combat, then the always-snacking Nadia Cassel will always have a place on your team in Metal Slug Tactics. She doesn't have the point-and-shoot efficiency of many of her teammates, but given enough time to prepare, her mines and drones will prove to be more than a match for all the firepower the other characters can bring to bear.
Keeping Nadia safe and letting her do her job are a top priority when she's on your team. As long as she has the support she needs, she'll pay you back in spades.
Nadia deploys two unique types of gadgets in battle, giving her tactical options unavailable to the rest of the Peregrine Falcons.
As long as she has the correct Special Actions, Nadia can deploy two different bots; Gunbot and Iron Lizard. Gunbot borrows her handgun to fight remotely, and can place Electric Mines on the battlefield. Iron Lizard can use Magnetic Grab to shuffle units around the battlefield, or detonate with a powerful Self-Destruct explosion.
You can have both Gunbot and Iron Lizard on the field simultaneously, but you can't have more than one copy of each at a time.
When using the bots, particularly Gunbot, it's important to note that they don't have the Synchronization skill. That means that while human squadmates can perform Sync Attacks triggered by bot attacks, the bots themselves cannot make Sync Attacks by any means.
Many of Nadia's abilities let her deploy Electric Mines, which remain on the battlefield until an enemy steps on them or a tile adjacent to them. There is no limit to the number of Electric Mines that can be on the field at a time, but each tile can only have one Mine.
If Nadia or a bot attempts to deploy an Electric Mine on a space that already has one, nothing happens.
Enemies that trigger an Electric Mine suffer four damage. If a hapless foe triggers multiple Mines at once, they take damage from all of them.
Most Electric Mines will be placed by the Hypertension Passive, which Nadia has in all of her loadouts. It allows both Nadia and her bots to place an Electric Mine on their current tile any time they trigger or participate in a Sync Attack.
Nadia's skillset focuses on deploying and interacting with her bots and Electric Mines.
Name |
Cost |
Range |
Effect(s) |
---|---|---|---|
Coil Blast | 5 | Self | Deals 5 damage to every enemy that is adjacent to Nadia, Gunbot, or Iron Lizard. |
Feedback Loop | 6 | 1-6 | Deals 2 damage to a single target within range. Destroys every Electric Mine currently in play, dealing 2 additional damage to the target for each. |
Gunbot | 4 | 1-4 | Summons Gunbot to an empty tile within range. Nadia cannot use her Handgun for normal attacks or Synchronizations while Gunbot is in play. |
Iron Lizard | 5 | 1-4 | Summons Iron Lizard to an empty tile within range. |
Magnetic Rift | 3 | 5 | Targets a unit within range, then moves them onto or adjacent to any Electric Mine anywhere on the map. Nadia gets a Bonus Action. |
Mine Skipping | 6 | 3-5 | Deploys an Electric Mine on a tile within range, then deploys another one within range from the first. |
Voltage Taser | 3 | 1-4 | Deals 3 damage to a single target within range and inflicts them with Stun, forcing them to skip their next turn. |
Wormhole | 2 | 6 | Moves an Electric Mine within range to another tile within range. Nadia gains Energize for the rest of the turn, which grants her a Bonus Action if she uses a Special Action while on or adjacent to an Electric Mine. Nadia gains Dynamize for the rest of the turn, which grants her a Bonus Move is she performs any type of action while on or adjacent to an Electric Mine. |
Nadia uses a pretty basic set of gear for her standard loadout; a no-frills Handgun and Cross Launcher. That's because in most cases, she'll be using her Special Actions instead to fill the battlefield with her destructive toys.
Once Nadia is in position, have her teammates trigger a Sync Attack so that she can deploy an Electric Mine via Hypertension, then use Nadia's action to summon Gunbot and place more Mines. If Gunbot survives the enemy turn, you can have them Self-Destruct before Nadia takes her turn to repeat the process with no drawbacks.
This loadout has a lot of damage potential, provided that Nadia and Gunbot always have an Electric Mine nearby to power their weapons. Both the Zapper Handgun and Electrifier Laser have the Overload ability, which allows the user to destroy a nearby Electric Mine to increase the damage of the weapon by a whopping four.
This can be especially devastating with the Electrifier, which hits every target in a line thanks to being a laser weapon.
The Explosive Duo loadout has Nadia's most powerful Handgun, a four-damage beast that enhances Sync Attacks with the Impressive trait built in. It's meant to be combined with Iron Lizard, who can place enemies right in Nadia's sights, but if you unlock Gunbot as well you can let them borrow the pistol and wreak some havoc with a more standard Nadia strategy.
Nadia's special weapon in Explosive Duo is the Pulsar, a Shotgun with a very short range but a potential damage of eight thanks to Overload. As with the previous loadout, always make sure to have an Electric Mine nearby when firing this high-tech boomstick.
Ablaze offers a lot of utility compared to Nadia's other loadouts, which is really saying a lot. The Burning Pistol places fire tiles around Nadia or Gunbot whenever they score a frag with it, adding even more dangerous terrain for enemies to negotiate beyond what you manage with the Electric Mines. The Glitter Bomb is a Grenade Launcher with a wide, loose AoE that prevents units hit from using Cover.
