Pokemon Go offers a plethora of events for its users, each providing you with limited-time bonuses and special features. This includes Spotlight Hours, 60-minute windows where they feature a specific Pokemon and offer bonuses to accompany it.
This is the most frequent event that takes place in Pokemon Go, providing users with a Spotlight Hour each week, showcasing a different Pokemon with each one. This guide will be updated weekly to ensure you are up-to-date with the latest information on making the most of Pokemon Go Spotlight Hours.
Updated on November 4, 2024, by Christian Pellegrino: The first Pokemon Go Spotlight Hour Event for the month of November will feature Surskit, the Bug and Water dual-type Pokemon introduced in the franchise's third generation. Below is everything you need to know about Surskit's Spotlight Hour, from event information to the best preparation strategies.
The upcoming Spotlight Hour will take place on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, from 6pm to 7pm local time. This is a relatively short window of time, so make sure that you are prepared and logging in punctually to take advantage of the bonuses being offered.
This week's Spotlight Hour will showcase Surskit, the Pond Skater Pokemon.
Surskit only has one further evolution: Masquerain. To evolve Surskit into Masquerain, it will require the use of 50 Surskit Candy, obtained from catching, transferring, or hatching either Surskit or Masquerain.
Also, as with any Spotlight Hour, this is a great chance to catch a Surskit with high in-game stats. Although this Pokemon's stats are still random when caught, the sheer number of Surskit encounters will give you a greater opportunity to catch one with desirable stats.
A specific bonus will accompany each Spotlight Hour throughout its duration, and this week's will be no different. For this Spotlight Hour, you will receive two times the Candy for transferring any Pokemon.
With the massive increase in Surskit spawns during this event window, this is a great opportunity to catch and transfer several Surskit, providing you with tons of Surskit Candy, a valuable resource used to evolve and power-up Surskit and Masquerain.
To maximize this transfer Candy bonus, it is best if you are in an area populated with plenty of PokeStops. This will not only increase the amount of Pokemon that you encounter, but it will also allow you to constantly obtain Poke Balls and other resources.
The main bonus of this Spotlight Hour will be the Surskit's massively increased spawn rate during this event. The spawn rate of this Pokemon can be increased further by using both PokeStop Lures and Incense.
After using an Incense, do your best to move around and travel distance.
This will increase the overall effectiveness of Incense, providing you with even more Pokemon encounters.
Fortunately, you will have the chance of encountering Surskit's Shiny variation during this Spotlight Hour Event. Using these two items will help increase the odds of you encountering and catching this rare Pokemon variant.
Similar to Community Day Events, the increased spawn rate of Surskit will give you decent odds of finding and catching this Shiny Pokemon, so make sure that you prepare accordingly when it comes to your items and specific locations.
That being said, Surskit's Shiny rates will not be boosted for this Spotlight Hour.
This means that encountering a Shiny Surskit will still be rare and often hard to come by.
With such a short window, ensuring that you are prepared for this event before its commencement is important. With the massive increase in the featured Pokemon's spawn rate, make sure you are stocked up on Poke Balls.
You will also want to ensure that you have sufficient Pokemon Storage before this event begins. This will allow you to quickly catch the featured Pokemon without worrying about transferring others to make space.
With the bonus of this Spotlight Hour being double Candy for transferring any Pokemon, stocking up on Poke Balls and having sufficient storage is especially important. Also, with this bonus applying to all Pokemon, make sure to stock up on Pokemon you plan on transferring in the days leading up to this event.
You can also increase your Pokemon Storage by 50 by purchasing a Pokemon Storage Upgrade at the in-game shop for 200 PokeCoins.
Lastly, with all Surskit being a Bug and Water dual-type Pokemon, Mega Evolve a Pokemon that is either a Bug or Water-type during this Spotlight Hour. This will further increase the number of Candies earned when catching Surskit throughout this event.
Additionally, this will increase the chances of obtaining Surskit Candy XL, a resource required to power-up both Surskit and Masquerain to their maximum levels.
The higher the Mega Evolution's Mega Level is, the more effective this added Candy bonus will be.
