KUCHING, Oct 31: Petroleum Sarawak Berhad (Petros) will expand its reliable and affordable gas pipeline network directly to the kitchens of an additional 135 households in Quadruplex Taman Ceria (QTC) in Permyjaya, Miri, as part of the project’s second phase.

Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg disclosed that that the QTC project is currently on track and scheduled for completion by 2025.

“Once the project is fully implemented, the overall QTC project will benefit over 3,000 households in Permyjaya,” he said when officiating Petros’ 7th anniversary celebration dinner at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) last night (Oct 30) which was broadcast live via Ukas Channel.

In February, Petros successfully completed the first phase of this significant multi-phase infrastructure project, providing direct piped gas supply to 13 low-income households in the area.

Moreover, in 2023, Petros completed a landmark project delivering reliable and affordable piped natural gas to 115 traders at Medan Saberkas.

Abang Johari highlighted that through the development of the Sarawak Gas Roadmap, Petros is enhancing statewide gas accessibility via four strategic hubs located in Miri, Bintulu, Samalaju, and Kuching.

“These strategic gas hubs will serve as central distribution points within a Hub-and-Spoke delivery model, ensuring enhanced access to affordable gas for our people across all parts of Sarawak, including our hinterland areas,” he added.

Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi, Minister of Transport Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, and Petros chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr Hamid Bugo were among the esteemed guests present.
