The coin, which features the Atlantic Salmon, was released at the end of 2023 as part of the nation's tribute to King Charles III's Coronation year.

With only 200,000 of the coins being minted, it now overtakes the Kew Gardens 50p which had held the title for the past 15 years.

When the Kew Gardens 50p was introduced in 2009 it had a mintage of 210,000.

But now the Atlantic Salmon 50p has officially overtaken it, becoming the rarest 50p in circulation.

The coin has already started to gain attraction on eBay and other coin groups, and the price is skyrocketing.
