Ripple CTO David Schwartz Slams AI-Powered Quora for Its Wording About Bitcoin Scam Victims

Ripple CTO David Schwartz has slammed a popular AI-powered online platform for the way it worded a question about victims of Bitcoin scammers, suggesting that it was not a simple typo.

Schwartz, who is known for his active presence on the X social media network, shared several screenshots from Quora, highlighting the changes made to questions by artificial intelligence.

One of the questions in the screenshots reads: "Can individuals who got scammed on Bitcoin to be prosecuted for their crimes?"

Schwartz expressed his dissatisfaction with the wording, particularly the use of the phrase "individuals who got scammed on Bitcoin." He highlighted the implication that the victims are somehow responsible for their own misfortune.

"Individuals who got scammed on Bitcoin to be prosecuted for their crimes," reads one of the questions, to which Schwartz's response was: "This is not how you're supposed to talk about victims of a crime."

One of Schwartz’s followers suggested that it might be a mere typo, to which Ripple CTO responded that it is highly unlikely since it was generated by AI.

"I don't think AIs make typos," he wrote.

Schwartz's criticism of AI in this context is not new. This year, he has already published multiple posts on the X platform criticizing Quora and the assistance it receives from AI in formulating questions.

In one instance, he highlighted a question that was changed from "Can victims of Bitcoin scams be compensated for their losses?" to "Can individuals who got scammed on Bitcoin to be prosecuted for their crimes?"

Schwartz slammed the new question, stating that it implies that the victims are somehow to blame for their own misfortune and that the focus should be on punishing them rather than helping them.

"This is not how you're supposed to talk about victims of a crime," he wrote in response to the question.

Ripple CTO praises Elon Musk’s Starlink

David Schwartz is known for his frequent disagreements with Elon Musk on X, particularly regarding posts about free speech and centibillionaire claims. He also often criticizes Musk's products, stating that most of them are "deeply overrated."

However, this week, Schwartz gave what seemed like due praise to one of Musk’s key products – mobile satellite Internet system Starlink.

Schwartz shared a tweet with a photo of a Starlink dish on the dashboard of his car, highlighting his ability to join a Zoom meeting despite having no cell service. He clarified that he was not driving at the time.

"Starlink does seem to be a product that gets more praise than criticism from Schwartz, who has slammed Tesla and Musk's promises about the e-cars produced by this company and these cars' features and updates."

As for Starlink, created by Elon Musk’s SpaceX company, Schwartz has called it an "astonishing success."
