Once again, Charles Hoskinson, founder of Cardano, has criticized the Solana network and lauded the Sui network.
Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has once again taken aim at Solana, this time praising the Sui network and its early contributor, George Danezis. Despite his appreciation for Sui, Hoskinson maintained that Cardano remains the number one blockchain.
In a recent X post, Hoskinson shared his thoughts on the Sui network, expressing admiration for the efforts of its early contributors. "It was great to see George Danezis's work (early Sui contributor) come to life and I'm sure they will have a lot of success in the field."
Hoskinson's comments come as no surprise, given his previous critiques of Solana and his preference for other layer-1 blockchains. Back in May, Hoskinson praised Near, Avalanche, and Fantom while subtly downplaying Solana's significance within the layer-1 landscape.
During a recent livestream, Hoskinson further elaborated on his stance, explaining that while Solana has a strong ecosystem, it's not adding anything substantial to the network. He also took a jab at Solana's downtime earlier this year, highlighting the network's vulnerability to external factors.
"Solana has a strong ecosystem, but I don't think it's adding anything substantial to the network. We saw what happened when the network went down for a few hours in February. Anything built on top of Solana can be quickly disrupted due to its centralization, as Edward Snowden recently pointed out."
Hoskinson's comments have sparked mixed reactions within the crypto community, with some agreeing with his assessment of Solana and others defending the network's capabilities. It remains to be seen how these critiques will impact Solana's long-term trajectory.
