Soundcore C40i: Anker's new clip-on wireless earbuds come with large drivers

Wireless earbuds come in various forms. In recent years, a new form of such headphones has emerged - or at least gained a surge in popularity. Specifically, these are earbuds in the form of a clip, which are not pressed into the ear or come with an ear hook, but are instead 'clipped' onto the ear. Huawei offers relatively high-priced headphones of this type, but Anker also has such devices on offer. Now, the C30i is getting a successor. Although Anker has not yet officially announced it in detail, information has already been shared on Reddit.

This appears to be information from an insider, which is likely to be correct - at least this has been the case several times so far. The new C40i are listed under the model number A3331 and are said to have relatively large drivers that measure 12 x 17 millimeters. As the headphones do not have to fit into the ear canal, the drivers can also be made larger, which can have a positive effect on the sound.

The connection to smartphones, tablets and other players is possible via Bluetooth 5.3, which itself also supports Multipoint. This means that the earbuds can be connected to several devices at the same time, which prevents more complex pairing processes. According to the as yet unconfirmed information, the Soundcore C40i come with IPX4 certification and are thus protected against damage from dust and water to a limited extent. The running time is specified as up to 25 hours. As is often the case, this refers to the runtime that can be achieved with intermittent charging in the charging case.

The charging case remains simple in design: the photo shows an operating light, which is likely to indicate the charging process and battery status. Buttons are also available for control of typical features such as music playback and accepting or rejecting calls without having to reach for the smartphone.

An exact launch date or price have not yet been communicated; the Soundcore C30i predecessor is currently listed on Amazon for $69.99, but is also currently available directly from the manufacturer at a discount (10% in the US, 25% in Europe).
