Lenovo Legion G7 debuts as new gaming controller for phones and tablets

Lenovo has now made the much-awaited 2024 Legion Y700 official. Alongside this new tablet, the company has also introduced the Legion G7. It's a gaming controller that can hold both smartphones and tablets, but from the design and features, it seems to be a rebrand of the GameSir G8 Galileo.

Just like GameSir's offering, the Legion G7 comes with a built-in USB-C plug. Lenovo says that this direct connection ensures zero latency, which is quite crucial for competitive gamers. This plug is movable, making it easier to get the smartphone or tablet aligned.

Another highlight of the Lenovo Legion G7 is that it features Hall effect joysticks. Compared to mechanical counterparts, these ensure a higher lifespan and improved precision. They are less prone to stick drift too. The joystick caps are interchangeable, and the mobile gaming controller comes with three sets.

On that note, the faceplate of this controller is also replaceable. It attaches to the body with magnets, and you can swap it out when there are heavy signs of wear and tear. While the gamepad has ABXY buttons, you can swap them through the bundled software. This ensures wider compatibility with games.

As for the design, Lenovo says that the Legion G7 aims to deliver a gaming handheld-grade feeling. There are Hall effectanalog triggers, which make it easier to play PC and console games through streaming services. It also has two customizable back buttons.

Besides that, the tablet and mobile gaming controller features a built-in USB-C port for passthrough charging and a 3.5 mm audio jack. Pricing-wise, the Lenovo Legion G7 will be available to pre-order in China at CNY 499, which is around $71. There's no word on global availability yet, but the GameSir G8 Galileo is already available internationally (curr. $79.99 on Amazon).
