Deal | 34-inch Samsung Odyssey G5 ultra-wide gaming monitor with 165 Hz refresh rate is now available at big discount
If you are a fan of ultra-wide gaming monitors, you might want to look at the Samsung Odyssey G5 which is currently enjoying a sizeable discount on Woot. The 34-inch ultra-wide gaming monitor can now be yours for only $299.99, a price that is $250 lower than the $549.99 list price and $70 less than Amazon’s $369.99 offer.
What's more, unlike many Woot offers, the Samsung Odyssey G5 on sale also comes with a 1-year Samsung warranty.
Hardware-wise, the Samsung Odyssey G5 on sale is an ultra-wide monitor with a VA panel and a 1000R curve. The monitor carries a resolution of 3,440x1,400, a 165 Hz refresh rate, and AMD FreeSync Premium. Additionally, the monitor also supports HDR10.
Per RTINGS’ review of the Odyssey G5, the monitor performs quite well when to comes to gaming. This is thanks in part to the 98.7% sRGB coverage, excellent color accuracy before calibration, high native contrast of 4,557:1, and solid color volume. The monitor also boasts a low input lag of 4 ms at max refresh rate and good reflection handling.
Unfortunately, the Odyssey G5 has some issues that can be deal-breakers for some people. For instance, because the panel is VA, the viewing angles are not good. Similarly, the SDR brightness, while serviceable, is nothing to write home about. So, the Odyssey G5 is not a good choice for a brightly lit environment, even though the monitor handles reflections well.
Suffice to say, despite the issues, the Samsung Odyssey G5 is a pretty good deal at the latest reduced price and is bound to make gamers happy as evident by the 4.3-star consumer rating on Amazon.
