Sony reveals new launch event for rumoured new LinkBuds, LinkBuds S and LinkBuds speaker

Sony has now announced a launch event, which is described as a 'new products announcement'. As the teasers above and below show, the event will commence at 16:00 UTC on October 1. As always, the company has offered a few hints about what it has in store through a cryptic teaser. Additionally, it has included the slogan 'Sound Your Way', should anyone be getting any ideas that a new Xperia smartphone could be on the way.

To that end, Sony recently confirmed to Japanese media that there would be no new Xperia 5 this year. Likewise, there is no indication that the company will introduce WH-1000XM5 or WF-1000XM5 successors this year, either. In fact, Sony has only recently refreshed the pair with new colour options.

However, there have been rumours that next-generation LinkBuds earbuds have been in development, which Sony's teaser supports. Based on the silhouettes in Sony's teaser image, it has created at least new versions of the LinkBuds and LinkBuds S (curr. $198 on Amazon). A third device can be seen though, which The Walkman Blog claims is a speaker of some kind. Allegedly, the website has received the following information about the unnamed speaker:

The earbuds can be placed inside this speaker which can obviously play music. Taking out the earbuds, the music switches to the earbuds. I guess this could be auracast tech at play.
