Adreno 830 outperforms Adreno 750 by 40% in Geekbench's OpenCL test

A previous leak predicted Qualcomm would bring massive performance improvements with its Adreno 830 GPU. It was tipped to be up to 53% faster than its predecessor (Adreno 750). A new Geekbench listing confirms the speculation, albeit with a slightly lower, but still impressive, performance boost.

In a new Geekbench OpenCL listing, the Adreno 830 scores 19,698 points. That represents a ~40% performance uplift over the last-gen Adreno 750, which, on average, scored 14,027 points in the benchmark. One can compare its performance to the Adreno X1-85 GPU found on the Snapdragon X Elite X1E-84-100 (20571.5 average).

We also get a sneak peek at some of the Adreno 830's specs. It is clocked at 1.0 GHz and features 12 Compute Units. The clock speed seems to be a bit low, but Qualcomm has some time to scale it up. Plus, the performance uplift will get better once the SoC debuts in October. Then again, Geekbench paints an incomplete picture of the GPU's performance and we should get a better idea once it is put through some actual games.
