Assassin's Creed Shadows officially delayed to Valentine's Day next year

A fresh Ubisoft announcement confirmed that Assassin's Creed Shadows has been delayed - now set to release on February 14, 2025. The game, originally scheduled for November 12, 2024, has been postponed so that the development team can reportedly spend more time to refine key features of the game - including the game's stealth mechanics and the two-protagonist system - as per the tweet by the official @assassinscreed X/Twitter handle.

This delay comes shortly after Ubisoft’s cancellations of its Tokyo Game Show appearance and scheduled press previews, both of which made the November release date sound iffy. Amid the turbulence, Ubisoft reassured fans that all preorders for Assassin's Creed Shadows will be refunded, and future preorders will include a free first expansion as compensation.

Marc-Alexis Côté, the executive producer of the now-delayed game, stated the following in his post on behalf of the Assassin's Creed Shadows' teams:

We understand this decision will come as disappointing news, especially to those who’ve been waiting patiently for an Assassin’s Creed game inspired by Feudal Japan, but we sincerely believe this is in the best interest of the game, and ultimately your experience as a player.

Côté has been a key figure in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, previously working on Assassin's Creed Syndicate and Assassin's Creed Odyssey.
