Xiaomi Redmi Note 14, Redmi Note 14 Pro and Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus to shake up mid-range smartphone market with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and IP69 certification

Xiaomi has just announced the release date for its next Redmi Note smartphones. As expected, these are set to arrive as three Redmi Note 14 series handsets. More specifically, the company intends to release the Redmi Note 14, Redmi Note 14 Pro and Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus as direct replacements for last year's Redmi Note 13, Redmi Note 13 Pro and Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus (curr. $375 on Amazon).

As usual, Xiaomi is seeking to build hype around its forthcoming devices by focusing on various elements like their design and displays. For instance, the company showcased various official images of two models last week, which it confirmed at the time as the Redmi Note 14 Pro and Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus. In recent years, Xiaomi has chosen to distinguish its three principal Redmi Note handsets in a few overarching areas, whether that be cameras, displays or wired charging capabilities.

Now, it seems that this product segmentation will still extend to some aspects of durability, as is the case with Redmi Note 13 series. Based on recent teasers, it seems that only the Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus will be advertised as being IP69 compliant, compared to IP68 for theRedmi Note 13 Pro Plus. Added to that, Xiaomi will provide a form of 'water ingress protection' guarantee for Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus orders, at least in China.

Unfortunately, Xiaomi has not shed any light on whether the Redmi Note 14 and Redmi Note 14 Pro will be afforded a higher IP rating than their predecessor's IP54 certification against particle and water ingress. By contrast, the trio will line up on September 26 with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 coverage, just like modern flagships. Incidentally, specifications for the Redmi Note 14 Pro and Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus have recently leaked online too, coverage of whichwe have provided separately.
