Leak reveals Android 15 release date for Google Pixel 6, Pixel 7, Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 smartphones

Android 15 has now reached the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). However, this year's OS update was not ready in time to debut alongside the Pixel 9 series. As a result, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold (curr. $1,799 on Amazon) and its non-foldable siblings launched with Android 14, just like the Pixel 8 series.

Surprisingly, Google did not confirm when its latest devices would receive Android 15 during this month's launch event. Instead, it subsequently revealed that this year's Pixel flagships would remain on Android 14 until October. Now,Android Headlinesclaims to have obtained information about when Google plans to release the first stable Android 15 update for currently supported Pixel devices.

Allegedly, Android 15 will land on October 15 in its stable form, unless Google discovers any system-breaking bugs between now and then. Please note that this is the version of Android 15 that Google has been publicly beta testing over the summer, not Android 15 Quarterly Platform Release 1 (QPR1). Presumably, Google will begin distributing this from December 2024 onwards. For reference, the next version of Android will reach the following Pixel devices:

  • Pixel 6a
  • Pixel 6
  • Pixel 6 Pro
  • Pixel 7a
  • Pixel 7
  • Pixel 7 Pro
  • Pixel 8a
  • Pixel 8
  • Pixel 8 Pro
  • Pixel 9
  • Pixel 9 Pro
  • Pixel 9 Pro XL
  • Pixel 9 Pro Fold
  • Pixel Fold
  • Pixel Tablet
