Saber Interactive, the developers of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marines 2, have finally answered some big questions in a Q&A session, giving special attention to matchmaking problems faced by players in the game.

The team stated that they are working on improving matchmaking to prevent players from pairing up with others who have the same class, but this fix will take time. They emphasized that this is a complex issue.

There have been reports of a common issue in the PvE Operations mode: when players join a game, their preferred class is often already taken by someone else. This leads to players scrambling to figure out who can play what class.

Fans have been asking for a smoother process, but unfortunately, it seems there won’t be any immediate changes. There have been calls for removing the class restriction entirely, but the developers clarified that they prefer to keep this rule for regular matchmaking.

The post mentioned: “For now, we are focusing on improving matchmaking so that you will not matchmake with players of the same class. This is not an easy fix, so it will take us some time to roll it out. As for using the same class, we don't want to change that rule for regular matchmaking, but we are considering it as an expansion of private lobbies in the future. It will take us time to finish it.”

Customization options were a major topic of discussion in the developers’ Q&A. Players currently cannot use any Chaos Space Marine Legion with any class due to many more restrictions.

While more Chaos customization is planned, features like Death Guard Assault legionnaires are not expected soon. New lens colors, additional classes, more armor colors, and the ability to customize the marine’s face are on the way.

The developers have stated that a FoV slider is unlikely for players wanting to adjust the game’s field of view (FoV), as it could negatively affect the game’s visual quality, and changing it is quite complicated.

“Our game is not a first-person shooter, the camera that we have is very cinematic and constantly changes position and FoV based on what you are doing. Still, we understand that is a very popular request so we are considering it anyway,” the devs mentioned.

Additionally, the ability to swap shoulders for weapons will not be added to the game. The developers explained that implementing this feature would require extensive work to support it across all melee animations, as the current setup is based on specific hand placements for a better visual impact.

While some of these responses may disappoint fans, it’s clear the developers are being honest about what changes are possible. There are still many updates on the horizon, and players can check the Q&A post for more details.

Warhammer 40k: Space Marines 2 was released on September 9th. The game is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, GeForce Now, and PC.
