Solana Mobile, the mobile arm of Solana Labs, has announced the name and details of the second-generation Web3 smartphone. Previously teased as "Chapter Two" earlier this year, the device is now officially called Seeker. It comes after Solana's sold-out Web3 smartphone, Saga.
Solana Mobile general manager Emmett Hollyer announced Seeker at Token2049 in Singapore, also revealing that presales for the device have already crossed 140,000 units across 57 countries.
Set to be released in 2025, the Solana community has been ramping up web3 mobile development, including ecosystem teams that are now building dApps, rewards, and features exclusively for the Seeker.

"We founded Solana Mobile with the mission of taking crypto mobile," said Solana co-founder and Solana Labs CEO Anatoly Yakovenko. "To achieve that, we needed to make Seeker more accessible, more affordable, and for its hardware and software to be even more deeply integrated for web3. The support from across the Solana community so far has been incredible, and with features like the new Seed Vault Wallet and the updated Solana dApp Store, we think Seeker will be the definitive web3 mobile device when it comes out next year."
Among the features of the Solana Seeker are a seed vault wallet, Solana dApp Store 2.0, Seeker Genesis token, and upgraded hardware.
Early Founder pricing at $450 for Solana Seeker presales is available till September 21, 2024.
The first Saga phone was launched in May 2023, priced at $999 (read our review here — spoiler: we weren't impressed). The device had dated specs right off the bat, and with Solana Mobile stating that its dApp store would eventually be compatible with any Android device, the phone didn't turn out to be that unique after all.
While the activated phones did get a genesis NFT, only a few thousand units were sold in the first few months after launch. In August, its price was reduced to $599.
However, the Saga did end up selling out, thanks to an astronomical surge in Solana-backed memecoin BONK, of which 30 million tokens were loaded onto every Saga phone.
