The United States Mint has unveiled candidate designs for its highly anticipated 2025 Superman coin and medals, the first in the upcoming Comic Art Super Heroes series.

This program, born from the U.S. Mint’s licensing partnership with DC Comics, will showcase nine iconic superheroes over the course of three years, beginning with Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman in 2025.

These candidate designs mark the debut of the series, which will feature superheroes on 24-karat gold coins, .999 fine silver medals, and non-precious metal clad medals. The series will continue through 2026 and 2027 with six additional DC comic book characters yet to be revealed.

Before the designs are finalized, they will undergo review by the Commission of Fine Arts (CFA) on Sept. 19, followed by the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) on Sept. 24. Both bodies will provide recommendations to help finalize the designs, ensuring they align with both artistic standards and public interest.

All obverse designs for the coins and medals in Comic Art Super Heroes series will be created and sculpted by U.S. Mint Chief Engraver Joseph Menna. The reverse designs will be crafted by one of the Mint’s Medallic Artists, working under Menna’s artistic direction.
