Google Chrome 129 launches with AI-powered Tab Compare, multiple fixes, and more

With less than a month left until the scheduled date for the release of Chrome 130 stable, Google updated its web browser to version 129. Although most of the changes involve bug fixes and minor tweaks, there are also several new features to talk about, and the list starts with Tab Compare.

Without further ado, these are Google Chrome 129's highlights:

  • Powered by AI, Tab Compare processes the contents of the pages open that feature products across multiple tabs and, after analyzing the findings, generates an overview of these products.
  • The Windows and macOS builds get a new certificate manager.
  • Toolbar customization improvements, including the ability to pin/unpin icons to the toolbar using a side panel.
  • When syncing is enabled, saved tab groups on iOS are also synced.
  • Chrome on Android sends inactive tabs to a section in the tab switcher, to be deleted automatically after 60 days.

According to the official roadmap, Chrome 130 should enter beta today, and this stage is scheduled to end on October 3rd. The stable release is expected to land on October 9th, if everything goes as planned. Its successor should drop in a stable version on November 6th.

Although it was released over four years ago, Scott La Counte's Chrome For Seniors: A Beginners Guide To Surfing the Internet With Google Chromeremains a good book to gift to the family elders who are going online. It can be acquired for $4.99 in Kindle format or $12.99 in paperback form.
