8BitDo has had a busy summer, what with refreshing various controllers like the Pro 2 or Ultimate 2C and Lite SE for those with limited mobility. While the summer is drawing to a close, 8BitDo is not done with releasing new hardware just yet. However, it has not introduced a new controller this time around.
Instead, it has chosen to launch the NGC Retro Receiver, which it is already selling through Amazon and its webshop. As its acronym suggests, the NGC Retro Receiver is designed for use with the Nintendo GameCube. With that being said, the accessory also supports the original Nintendo Wii (RVL-001). Added to that, 8Bitdo lists Windows 10 and Windows 11 compatibility, although we suspect this is only for the purposes of performing firmware upgrades.
At any rate, the NGC Retro Receiver features a GameCube controller connection and pairs with wireless controllers over Bluetooth or Bluetooth Low Energy (LE). As such, the receiver can be paired with pretty much any Bluetooth controlling going, whether that be 8BitDo's plethora of options or those designed for recent Microsoft, Nintendo or Sony consoles. Currently, 8BitDo is selling the NGC Retro Receiver for $24.99 on Amazon and worldwide through its webshop. Please see 8BitDo's product page for further details.
