Vast deserts, mountains, canyons, remote islands, and plenty of mysteries await players in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. One of these secrets is Tingel Isle, and while you won’t find the eccentric “fairy” Tingle himself there, here’s how to collect the Cap of Wind and a hidden Korok Seed.
In Tears of the Kingdom, Tingel Island is the northernmost island in the chain of Islands east of Akkala Highlands. It rises high about the Lanayru Sea, connected to Ankel Island by a narrow bridge.
The safest way to approach Tingel Island in ToTK is to travel to Davdi Island. Once there, follow the bridges north while avoiding enemies in the area. If you have it unlocked, you can also fast travel to Gatanisis Shrine on the rocky cliffs along the shoreline.
The main attraction of Tingel Island is the Cap of Wind in Tingel Island Depths, but there’s a Korok Seed to collect before rushing forward. Head to the North section of the Island and look for a tree pointed at by red arrow signs. Climb the tree to the top to find a Korok. Ya-ha-ha!
On Tingel Island (which some may spell as “Tingle Island” due to the eponymous middle-aged “fairy” from previous titles), look for a crack in the ground in the center of the island. The emanating red light below is Tingel Island Chasm, an entrance to an area of the Depths hosting the Cap of Wind.
The area in the Depths below Tingel Island doesn’t have its own Lightroot, though you should be able to see just fine if you have activated the Sisinatag Lightroot.
After descending, sail right past the camp and look for the Poes in the distance, which point the way to a weak rock wall. Hammer through the rock wall with a stone tool, or use the Vow of Yunobo to let him take care of it. I highly recommend using the Sage’s power, as this area has a lot of rock.
Continue through the Islands, each connected by tunnels blocked by weak rock. Due to the number of stones that need smashing, I recommend avoiding this area until you have cleared the Fire Temple. Through the final tunnel, blocked by a durable blue rock, is a treasure chest at the center of a platform. Descend to it using your paraglider and land on the platform.
Inside the treasure chest is the Cap of Wind inspired by Link’s design from The Wind Waker, one of my favorite Zelda titles. Be careful, however, as your arrival attracts a Gloom Hands. You can stay and fight it, followed by Phantom Ganon, for some good loot — or fast travel away to safety.
