LG unveils thinnest and lightest Intel Lunar Lake laptop yet with LG Gram 16 Pro refresh

LG already offers the Gram 16 Pro with Intel Meteor Lake processors (curr. $1,699.99 on Amazon). However, the company has decided to switch out Intel's Meteor Lake architecture for Lunar Lake, which Intel showcased at IFA 2024 in Berlin last week. Theoretically, this change alone should bring a healthy CPU and GPU performance boost to LG's thin and light 16-inch laptop.

Nonetheless, the company has decided to focus on the laptop's neural processing unit (NPU), which Intel builds into its Lunar Lake processors. Specifically, Lunar Lake processors offer 48 tera operations per second (TOPS). Thus, the Gram 16 Pro will be compatible with Microsoft Copilot+ features. On top of that, the new laptop weighs just 1.19 kg, despite featuring a 77 Wh battery.

In part, LG has managed to achieve this comparatively low weight by utilising a thin housing that tapers to a minimum thickness of 12.8 mm. Unfortunately, LG has not yet outlined other hardware specifications. Hence, it is unclear whether LG has upgraded the device in other areas. Currently, LG expects to begin selling the new Gram 16 Pro before the start of 2025.
