Michael Saylor Predicts Bitcoin Will Hit $13 Million Over the Next Two Decades

The billionaire explained why the leading digital asset's recent volatility hasn't frightened his company, and the advantages for investors to buy into MSTR instead.

Billionaire MicroStrategy Executive Chairman Michael Saylor predicted on Monday that Bitcoin will reach an astonishing $13 million over the next two decades.

In an interview with CNBC, Saylor explained his reasoning behind this bold prediction and highlighted the advantages of investing in MSTR over Bitcoin directly.

Bitcoin To $13 Million, Says Saylor

During the interview, Saylor stated that Bitcoin's recent volatility is not a concern for his company, owing to the asset's unique characteristics.

“If you're worried about a missile strike, you can't teleport your ten million dollar apartment to Singapore, lever it up 10 to 1, and short $100 million worth of New York real estate. But you can short $100 million worth of Bitcoin by borrowing $10 million,” he said.

Saylor also discussed MicroStrategy's pioneering role in the Bitcoin-backed bond market, with the company having used billions of dollars in convertible bonds to acquire BTC.

According to Saylor, investing in MSTR is advantageous as it provides a “tax deferred BTC yield” that enables users to borrow funds to purchase BTC at rates that would be unavailable to them as individuals.

“MSTR is like a BTC yield instrument that's taxed later, and you can borrow money to buy it at a rate that you couldn't borrow to buy Bitcoin,” he explained.

Scolar recently made headlines with a bullish prediction for Bitcoin at an event in Nashville, Tennessee. While his “base case” scenario predicted a price of $13 million by 2045, his “bear case” saw the asset reaching $3 million, aligning with VanEck’s recent prediction. His most optimistic scenario, however, put Bitcoin at an incredible $49 million.

Peter Schiff Criticizes Saylor's Claims

Bitcoin skeptic and SchiffGold CEO Peter Schiff took aim at Saylor's statements on Monday, calling his claims regarding the gains of both BTC and MSTR “a bunch of nonsense.”

“Actually, MSTR is down 40% from its 52-week high and is 6% below its 2021 high. The actual returns are not nearly as rosy as you describe and will soon get worse,” Schiff countered on Twitter.
