Dreame has unveiled the Roboticmower A2 at IFA 2024. As its name suggests, this latest model is an upgraded version of the original Roboticmower A1, which was revealed last year. We tested the A1 robot lawn mower in July, which revealed flaws with the device’s LiDAR obstacle detection.
The Dreame A2 uses the improved OmniSense 2.0, with an added HDR camera at the front of the device, allowing the robot to spot and avoid smaller objects. Hopefully, this will fix the problem experienced by our reviewer. The camera is also used for navigation, and, as with the original model, there is no need for a boundary wire. Another upgrade is EdgeMaster technology, allowing the blade to move to the side of the device to trim around the border; Dreame suggests it can get within 5 cm (~2 inches) of the border. On top of this, cutting height is adjustable between 3 and 7 cm (~1.2 and 2.8 inches), a setting in the Dreamhome app.
Also changed is the casing, which is made from a different material, though it is unclear whether this enhances weatherproofing or is more scratch resistant. It remains to be seen when the Dreame Roboticmower A2 will launch and how much it will cost. As a guide, the Roboticmower A1 retails for $2,499.99.
