The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 series has seen two new additions. One of them features a 15.3-inch display, while the other has a 13.3-inch screen. While some of the other laptops got refreshed with the latest Intel Lunar Lakeand AMD Strix Point processors, Lenovo has decided to stick with two-generation old CPUs for these.
More specifically, both the new IdeaPad Slim 5 laptops feature AMD Ryzen 7000 series APUs. Lenovo hasn't specified which processors are powering the two laptops, but it will likely be better than the 14-inch Gen 8 that launched last year. That topped out at Ryzen 7 7730U.
As for the differences between the 13.3-inch and 15.3-inch models, the screen size is the obvious one. Beyond that, the larger IdeaPad Slim 5 has a larger battery, which is rated at 70 WHr, while the smaller model has a 54.7 WHr battery. So, the 15.3-inch would be a good pick for those who prioritize longer battery life over portability.
Speaking of the screen, both the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 have LCD panels with a resolution of 1920x1200 pixels. Both are 60 Hz panels with 100% sRGB coverage and TÜV Low Blue Light Certification. There are a good number of ports on both the laptops as well, including:
For wireless connectivity, the new laptops have WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. Other highlights of the two Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 laptops include up to 32 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, 1 TB of storage (2 TB Samsung T7 Shield curr. $137.24 on Amazon), and a relatively lightweight body. Pricing-wise, both of them start at €699 (about $774), and they are expected to be available in October 2024.
