Beoplay H100: Bose rival releases new ultra-premium wireless over-ear headphones with LDAC support

Earlier this week, we reported that Bose had decided to celebrate its 60th anniversary by releasing refreshes of not just the QuietComfort Ultra Headphones but also the QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds and Ultra Open Earbuds. Now, Bang & Olufsen (B&O) has pulled a similar move, albeit with entirely new hardware. Like the Beoplay H95 (curr. $845.45 on Amazon) before it, B&O has announced the Beoplay H100 to coincide with what it considers to be a milestone birthday.

In this case, the company is celebrating being 100 years old, albeit not until next year. Nonetheless, the Beoplay H100 is already orderable across multiple markets in Hourglass Sand, Infinite Black and Sunset Apricot colour options. While the Beoplay H100 succeeds the Beoplay H95, it is roughly double the price of its predecessor at €1,499 in the Eurozone, £1,299 in the UK and $1,549 in the US.

Unsurprisingly, B&O is throwing around substantial marketing claims to back up the headphones' exorbitant pricing. For example, not only does it describe the Beoplay H100 as a 'technical masterpiece', but also that it sets 'new standards' with 'powerful bass' and 'breathtaking sound'. To that end, the headphones feature 40 mm titanium drivers with a 10 Hz to 40 kHz frequency response.

Additionally, the Beoplay H100 boasts 'EarSense' software to adapt how it sounds on a per-user basis, as well as support for the LDAC Bluetooth code. On top of that, B&O plans to open its headphones to other Hi-Fi Bluetooth codecs early next year. Moreover, the Beoplay H100 offers up to 32 hours of battery life with ANC enabled and Bluetooth Multipoint. Please see B&O's website for further details.
