Pico 4 Ultra: New VR headset released in 20 countries with huge price increase over older model across Europe

Pico has now confirmed global availability for the Pico 4 Ultra, a successor of sorts to the Pico 4 that it released almost two years ago. While the Pico 4 served as a Meta Quest 2 alternative, Pico has aimed the Pico 4 Ultra squarely at the Meta Quest 3 (curr. $369 on Amazon). As such, Pico equips its latest virtual reality (VR) headset with the following hardware:

• Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen2
• RAM: 12 GB LPDDR5
• Storage: 256 GB UFS 3.1
• Connectivity: Bluetooth 5.3/Wi-Fi 7
• Battery: 5,700 mAh

Additionally, Pico has included a pair of LCD displays that measure 2.56-inches across while delivering a 90 Hz refresh rate and a 2,160 x 2,160-pixel resolution per eye. Please note that these displays are borrowed directly from the Pico 4, as are the Pico 4 Ultra's 105° pancake lenses. Nonetheless, the latter retails for €599, a €210 and 54% price increase over the Pico 4.

According to Pico, its latest VR headset will reach 20 countries, including China, where it is already available. However, it seems that the company has no plans to release the Pico 4 Ultra in other markets, such as Africa, the Middle East or the Americas. Please note that Pico will bundle Blade & Sorcery: Nomad, Infinite Inside, Let's Get Fit VR and FootPool with orders placed between September 6 and September 19, which it insists is worth €50.
