Acer's latest promo video could be teasing a new Intel Lunar Lake gaming handheld

It seems that more manufacturers will be entering the gaming handheld market in the coming days. Just recently, Zotac made its entry with the release of the Zone, and now, Acer has posted a video that could possibly be teasing an Intel Lunar Lake gaming handheld.

Acer has uploaded this 10-second teaser video to hype up its Acer@Next event set for tomorrow. It will take place in Berlin as a part of IFA 2024, and with Intel fully detailing its new Lunar Lake series of processors later today, Acer is expected to showcase products with the latest chips at its event.

Getting back to the teaser, the video shows what could possibly be a new gaming handheld next to a laptop. If it stands correct, this could be the second Intel Lunar Lake handheld to be unveiled at IFA 2024. As for the first one, it's expected to be the MSI Claw 8+ AI.

MSI showcased the Lunar Lake gaming handheld at Computex 2024, but the company didn't go into the details. It's confirmed to feature an Intel Core Ultra 200V CPU, 8-inch 120 Hz VRR display, and 80 Wh battery. With this new release, MSI wants to better compete against AMD handhelds such as the Asus ROG Ally X (available on Best Buy).

While it's still unclear how well these Intel Lunar Lake gaming handhelds will perform, a recent benchmark run confirmed that the Arc 140V Xe2 iGPU can surpass the Radeon 780M in OpenCL. Worth noting that the OpenCL benchmark isn't something that you can use to gauge gaming performance.

However, the benchmark scores do suggest that the new Lunar Lake chips will bring upgraded iGPUs. As for the Acer gaming handheld, we will need to wait till tomorrow to see whether it's actually a thing.
