Here's how long the Pixel Watch 3 will receive software updates for

The Pixel Watch 3 is Google's newest smartwatch, and for the first time, it is available in two sizes - 41mm and 45mm. While the smartwatch is still on pre-order, with shipping due for later this month, Google has revealed how long it will provide software support for the new wearable.

According to information on an official support page, the Pixel Watch 3 will receive guaranteed software updates until at least October 2027 which translates to three years of updates.Google states that the software updates will include security updates and may also include feature drops.

From the information, it reveals that Google is sticking to the same support duration it has offered since the first generation Pixel Watch i.e. three years from when the device first became available on the Google Store in the US. This means the Pixel Watch which launched in 2022 will receive updates until October 2025 while the Pixel Watch 2 which launched in 2023 will be updated through to October 2026.

However, this is quite short when compared to the Pixel 9 series which is guaranteed to receive software updates for a period of seven years. It is also shorter than the four years of updates that Samsung promises for its Galaxy Watch series starting with the Galaxy Watch 4 series.

The Pixel Watch 3, just like the Galaxy Watch 7, ships with Wear OS 5which is the latest version of the software and is based on Android 14. The new watches bring features such as improvements to health and fitness tracking, better power efficiency, bigger battery capacity for the 45mm variant, and 20% faster charging for the 41mm version.
