Retroid has lifted the lid on another of its forthcoming retro gaming handhelds. For context, the dust has barely settled on the announcement of the Pocket Mini. While the company officially unveiled the device less than a week ago, it then outlined six colour options that it subsequently overhauled due to community feedback and teased the inclusion of a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset.
Now, it has shared a first look at the Pocket 5, which would appear to be a direct successor to last year's Pocket 4 and Pocket 4 Pro (curr. $249.99 on Amazon). So far, it has only provided two photos of the device, both with a focus on its front panel. Nonetheless, a few details can be gleaned about the Pocket 5 before Retroid confirms them.
For one, it appears that the Pocket 5 has slimmer bezels than the Pocket 4 series, although other details in this regard remain unknown for now. Moreover, the presence of a dedicated home button implies that Retroid will pre-install Android, just as it does on thePocket 4andPocket 4 Pro. However, it remains to be seen whether the Pocket 5 will launch with Android 13 like its predecessors or newer firmware like Android 14 or even Android 15. Presumably, the latter is out of the equation though, given that it is unlikely to reach stable status until early September.
